A journeyman in his career and people might remember that more since he didnt have a lasting stay anywhere, but was totally top class player that made the midfield smooth and balanced. One of my best Juve memories is his deciding pk in the CL final  And ooooh, ofcourse our tennis game against Milan.... :D
.......And those matches against Paris Saint Germain and the whole 1996/97 season (especially against the big teams he was amazing this year. He single handedly destroyed Inter, he was MOM against Milan on the tennis match). He was never some goalscorer. He was scoring his 5-6 goals per season. But he had maybe 3 time more assists and he controled the midfield like few people could in the world.
In my time as a Juve fan we were never as good as during the time when we had Jugovic-Zidane-Del Piero responsible for the show.

That we were never as good is obvious (laughable to compare it to Capello's strong but limited side in europe), but as you pointed out, its also quite obvious Jugovic is part of that success is rather forgotten, a modest but highly skilled player that is easy to forget I guess, not headliner type. And oh, one must mention Deschamps back then too, when people are name dropping, made our midfield really really solid.

The little Ballerina must take his ques from him (due to his supposed nickname in lyon), he did the undesireable task of taking out ze trash galliantly, astute and fierce water carrier that did his job to the T.

Btw, Jugovic lost every single penny he earned as a football player. He was a passionate gambler. One casino in Monte Carlo has his name, among many other names, writen with golden letters, as a player who lost more than 1m dollars in one night. :D

I can't for the life of me understand why people have called this game "the most useless game ever"...c'mon guys, a game against Inter is never useless, let's be real..if there's a game to put us back in form, it's this one.

Haha, damn, crazy yugo! You have reckless mofos like this, and the type of Fowler who turn a decent footie salary as the investment start to a big real estate enterprise. Quite a difference, hehe.

Deschamps and Jugovic were awesome. I wasn't a supporter when Jugovic was around but watching that guy through footage and match replays it was obvious he was slick with the ball.

I'd love to have another version of him in our midfield. Actually, make that the whole 96 midfield.

We're off topic, but that whole team was amazing. The most amazing thing is that it was full of world class players, and yet it wasn't created the way Real or Inter created their teams.
Lippi made that team out of relatively unknown players who made their name in Juve exactly.
Zidane was a newbie from the French league who, even though had a solid euro 1996, was still relatively unknown, bought for peanuts from Bordaux. Vieri was a 23 yo kid, while Montero was another unknown just bought from a small Italian team (both were bought from Atalanta). Del Piero was a 22 years old kid bought from Pescara, Iuliano was another new guy bought from Salernitana. Jugovic was already a CL winner with Crvena Zvezda and a very good player for Sampdoria, but no-one considered him a star. Boksic was bought from the French league, Di Livio was bought from serie B, Perruzzi was already in the team when Lippi came, but he wasn't a big star, Porrini came from Atalanta, Conte was a bench warmer before Lippi, and only Ferrara and Deschamps were stars even before Lippi created the new Juve.

And out of a sudden, you have the best team in the world.
That was some amazing scouting and amazing coach work.

Alen, you oughta point out Milan was fighting over for Dugarry with the rest of top clubs, and signing him expensively, while we were getting Zizou for zilch :D

That summer, Dugarry was the star of the mercato.

"Milan bought Bordeaux's star player Dugarry, winning the bidding war with the other teams.
In other news, Juventus also bought a player from Bordeaux. Some midfielder"

You are right, but still funny. Good player, but what a dissapointment he turned out to be ;)

Shouldnt laugh too hard though, we (the club) thought Nicola Amoruso is more talented then Vieri

I don't think it was the case. Vieri was a regular that season, team's topscorer, while Amoruso was a bench player. They are almost the same age and i doubt Lippi or anyone else preffered Amoruso to Vieri.
But in the summer of 1997 we had a chance to buy another great prospect, who was already serie A topscorer, and buying him meant that one of Vieri/Del Piero will have to sit on the bench. That player was Pippo Inzaghi, btw.
Vieri was the obvious choice. Too good for the bench and more wanted by the other teams than Amoruso.

We should have kept him and it was a mistake to sell him, but i really doubt that we sold him because we saw him as less talented than Amoruso.

    Of course :D

We gave up on in a second, Vieri was a character, but he was just starting out, he would prolly wouldnt mind a super sub role (ala Iaquinta now, or at times Boksic back then). We didnt believe in him at all, could have been easy to keep him as a squad player like we did Amoruso (and starting out, they hyped this mofo :D). Very much could be avoided 100%. I mean, his blow out wasnt a Pazzini like suprise or shit, but predictable.
