You guys should easily see the changes in how defenses line up against Krasic. During his first couple months here the opposition would treat the player like he's just any other winger. But now Krasic has two players around him all the time, unless they give the ball away to Milos or one of our players next to him. Put two guys on him when we have possession and even Robben won't be the same player.

This should open up space for Aquilani, one of the strikers, or the RB to fill, but they don't. These guys don't offer any movement at all. And since we have no width out left the defense just shifts towards our right side without a care since they only have to worry about Grosso on the flank. So all these factors contribute to failure. It's not just Krasic's form.

The answer is Pepe behind Krasic but we'll never see that. The guy literally creates a wasteland of space for other players. FFS, He usually has the LM, LB and CB (shading over) all focusing on him.

ALthough I don't think that it is only to blame, we just don't have the players to take advantage of the space.

ALthough I don't think that it is only to blame, we just don't have the players to take advantage of the space.

I don't see why not. Aquilani can fill that space when he's not deeper in midfield sending the ball around. DP isn't mobile enough now, that is true. So actually it goes back to the system and how it's simply too static, plus we don't have any real support from the fullbacks.

This is why I prefer the 4-3-3 even if we don't have proper fullbacks. At least one of Aqui or Marchisio could be further up the pitch to work their way into the spots just behind Krasic or the LW, whomever it may be.

I'm all for giving Pepe a shot back there. It can't get any worse than what we've got now. And with a decent attacking fullback that means Krasic could switch flanks if needs be and cause more confusion. The 4-4-2 that I prefer is the one that Man United has used over the years, with movement all over the place and interchanging of positions. That's the way to play it, not this nonsense.

We can try Motta there as a RB instead of Pepe. They might offer the same in defence
And Motta is better going into attack than defending.
