To try and be nice to the Milan fan first :

1: You said Juve had made panic purchases. Stretching it alot I will say that Juve would have been right in feeling a sense of panic with regards to our BACKUP options. We did not buy one player who should be considered a 'titolare'. On the other hand we've taken 4 players in who could all enter the first 11 with ease to replace/supplement last years successfull core. 4 players who all have their carriers ahead of them and ahve shown tremendous ability already. Conversely- Milan has shown faith in the players of last season- adding two substitutes (depending on which position you believe Cafu will play) with carriers on their way down.

2: You say you deserved to win in Manchester. I kinda agree. Milan played better, and had a valid goal cancelled, so if there was to be a winner from open play- it should have been you. That is tied nicely to point number 1 though, as the reason for us not showing ourselves the better side (again- as we had shown over the full season) was by and large Nedved's absence. A player for whom we had no replacements which was clearly a management mistake. We still don't have a real replacement, but with Miccoli and Maresca in particular- we have many more options tactically to sustain such a loss.

As such- last year you had better cover than we did, and we couldn't overcome this deficit in the final- even if it were remarably close to winning without the player of the year in European football last season.

Then- this season...

Obviously... the mercato is not yet over. Milan might have something cooking. It's all guesses, and if you ususally frequent other Milan sites (DM in particular) you're propably well tuned in with this apparent 'source' at Milanello always offering juicy bids on pretty much every world class player who're (surprise!) always neatly connected to Milan's mercato. A matter of faith I guess....

Looking at what the two teams have at present- there's no competition. We have a better side than Milan across the board.
We have a more homogenous and flexible squad. A better starting 11 and better fringe players. That doesn't mean Milan isn't a very strong rival. Only that the Juve team that has taken 23 points more than Milan over the past two season is still a noticeable step ahead.

The only team I fear first 11 wise is Roma. Week 3 will propably give us some indications.

I think that you shouldn't rate your team too high "Milan are STILL better". Let's be honest the last few years you weren't better. If you can't see that then you are ignoring the facts.

But teams are like parabolas. They go up and down up and down all the time. I think that milan will win seria A this season mostly because they are more motivated for the scudetto that's clear.

I also think that after a season or two Juve will have some average seasons. The thing is no team can stay at the top all the time.

And it's useless to compare Juve and Milan in my opinion. They are both world class teams and i think we should leave it there.

Today Juve wins the scudetto tomorow Milan then Inter then Roma... That's how it goes.

But cmon saying things like "The best team won, everyone knows that." for the CL is a bit stupid. It was a draw and you won it at penalties for gods sake, not forgeting that the best player in seria A didn't play. I won't say that Juve should have won the CL though. The one who won it won it fair. I would have said that whoever won it.

Try not to be too fanatical. I know it's not easy, believe me, we all want to defend our teams.

And you want respect for the european champions. First have respect for the Seria A champions and respect for Barcelona they're not really a "crappy team" because they had one bad year.

So try to think more clearly and then come and talk. Milan is one of the best teams in the world. Milan is not the best team in the world. Not juve. Not real madrid. No one is invincible.

About the small attack you had well, don't tell me you didn't expect it. I mean this is a juve forum. And i myself don't agree with almost everything you say and although i am tempted to start a conversation on who is the best i won't because we won't agree. The two teams are so good that we will both think that our team is the best, as 99% of the two teams fans.

So i'll leave it with , they're both great teams, they have world class players, may the best win. Anything else we say is useless. As i said you sometimes win you sometimes lose. That's football.
Just don't overrate your team or any team with comparison to legent teams like Juventus and Barca or Milan if you supported another team.

I totally agree with you. I can't believe what i'm saying but you'r right.
even last year Juve and Milan had an average pre-season but they pulled off a good season. Milan lost to Bayern and Liverpool in the pre season, and we finished third in the TIM cup.

Preseason warm up games dont mean anything. When players are still in the holiday mood and not quite there while physically at about 60%, as well as mentally where they know they dont have to stress themselves too much. Whther a result is 4-1 or 10 - 0 it is meaningless. It never goes down in the history books and it doesnt hurt tradition either. Although this is a great time to experiment with the team. The formation thats most suitable. And who forms an ideal replacement for whom. This is where all the young talent should really get a feel of things to come. So, ive got to say, at this point of time form doesnt really matter. It only comes gradually for both individuals and the team. Here what happens is, the coach gets a clearer idea as to what he should be doing when the season starts in earnest.

Juve doesn't do too well in the pre-season usually. Last year we were outplayed by both Milan and Inter during the Birra Moretti and not only.

Okay, so it's just us.

Stand Outs for Juve:

Edgar Davids: Good dynamic display at the heart of the Juve midfield. We football fans have become used to this....

Maresca: Showed a lot of character, mixing it up with Keane and closing down spaces.

Areas of Concern:

#1: Just like Milan did against Barcelona, there was poor coordination between the midfielders and the strikers. Juve could have been more threatening if it attacked down the flanks. But they opted to use the middle more. The reason for this is that crossing the ball from the wings would be pointless with Ferdinand in the middle, as he is dominant in the air. The reason why Juve's attack had an off day, was because Trezeguet was hailing to hold on to the ball and lacked spark. Di Vaio seemed like he was out to prove a point, he started strongly but faded away as the game progressed.

In the second half we saw a 'tridente' attack. I am a big fan of this tactic, Zac used it all the time when Milan won the Scudetto. Alex and Miccoli did some good work, but again, the frenchman 's performance seriously compromised the whole team's efforts.

Nedved had some moments of brilliance, but needed to get himself more involved in the action.

Camoranesi has not started the preseason in the best way, and he seemed to be more concerned about issues off-the-court with Moggi and his agent. He needs to re-examine his tactical role.

Appiah is continuing to impress, he can do a little bit of everything, buthe doesn't read the game very well. All this will improve as he gets more playing-time.

Most of the problems we saw tonight are very common in this phase. When the players improve their physical condition, many other aspects of the team's play will rise sharply.

#2 The Defence:

Appalling.

A total lack of concentration at times. Zambrotta was okay, but Birindelli and Pessotto did very little to convince Lippi they are worthy of a starting place.

But the centre of defence was even worse. They were slow to react to threats, and didn't close players down quickly enough. A little bit more speed would help... I know it's just a preseason, but Forlan came close to making it 5-1 when he missed a shot while the goal was empty....

I don't need to be reminded that this is just a preseason friendly, but now is the time to hone skills and improve tactical awareness.

Positives:

Miccoli

This guy is going to force Lippi to adjust your tactics a little. He impressed me a lot, and I think he's going to be a key figure.
I can see him causing Milan, and other clubs a shitload of problems because his speed is formiddable, his technique is superior, his energy level is remarable, and he has a low centre of gravity, his balance is good and he doesn't let the ball escape from him easily....


Despite the exaggerated scorline, Juve did have about ten goalscoring opportunities, so rest assured that the result is not a true reflection of what was happening on the pitch.

Everytime Man U. scored, I turned the Tv off. I turned it back on just because I was curious to see how things were going in view of Sunday's super cup.

All in all, I was left with a feeling of comfort. It will be interesting to see how the team rebound from this catastrophe, I hope Nedved wasn't too badly hurt towards the end of the game...

We have so much quality on our bench that when we do our training we can put two strong teams against each other.

Don't get me wrong, you do have a good team, but when you're up against us, we dictate the match. We either defeat you, or defeat ourselves. This case is closed. The writing's on the wall, we're #1, Real are #2 and everyone else is far, far behind.

How are we far, far behind Real? Look how many points they won their league by (Please don't go and criticise your own team's league just for argument's sake)...and look who got further in the Champions' League.

You know those rankings are utter bull$#!^, and the only reason you guys are on top is that they give the CL winners so much weighting...it's like the FIFA International rankings. Do you really believe that Mexico are 6th best team in the world? and the United States 10th? Give me a break man...

In friendly matches so early in the season, it's a shame to come up against a side that believed they would be making a point by coming away with a result.

At least they have a result...what do you have? 0, zilch, nothing, niente. I'm quite impressed that a team with ten men in defence can score two goals against a 'brilliant, invincible, superior' Milan team.
