Miguel dreaming of Juve
Thursday 19 August, 2004
Luis Miguel admits he is interested in a move to Juventus even though Benfica have ruled out his sale.
"I’m aware that Juventus are keen on me and that is great to know," said the Euro 2004 player.
"I wouldn’t have any problems in staying with Benfica but if Juve really want me then I wouldn’t turn them down."
The Bianconeri are after a new right-back and Miguel did impress for Portugal over the summer.
The Turin giants reportedly recently made a £7m offer but Giovanni Trapattoni’s club turned it down.
"I can confirm that we have been contacted by Juventus but we told them that none of our players are for sale," stated club official Jose Veiga.
"We want this whole story to end here because Miguel is not available for transfer. There is no room for discussion."
The only other option for the Bianconeri is Lazio full-back Massimo Oddo who seems to be eager for a Turin switch.
However, the capital club’s excessive asking price for the defender has put the brakes on any proposed move.
