He's had a lot of good ideas. The 'champions' qualifying route in the Champions League was brilliant and increased the geographical spread of teams and as such increased the money going to those nations both in football and tourism. His new idea of the top seeds being champions is also a great one.

It seems like he's trying to level the playing field across Europe and get closer to the days of his playing career.

Can you give me a run down on what those ideas mean?

This is the first time I've heard of it but to be honest it doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Wouldn't be long before players stopped acting like children around the referee. Only the captain should be protesting these things.

The federations and countries need to be the ones who do something.

He stated: "The white card is a new initiative. It is related to the behaviour of the football players. Play-acting, criticism on the field, these are not accepted by people who love the game.

"Yellow cards will still exist too but it might be interesting to have another card.

"This white card would send off a player for a few minutes, maybe five or 10. This would be a way to promote the game among fans who don’t want to see this.

"With a white card, there would be no suspension. I think we should learn from other sports, like rugby, who have used this system."

Platini, who was joined in Dubai by Uefa's Chief Refereeing Officer, Pierluigi Collina, also believes that some current laws of the game need to be "simplified" in order to ensure that football remains accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

first of all they should start with the video reviews and remov added time completely, let the computers control the time like they do in the other 99,999999% of the sport games. Video review is just simple as that - we have 2 additional referees/specialists that will sit near field or in the stands and will have 3 monitors to check the situation from the different views on the replays, their decision is not debatable, that's it

That would probably add 20 minutes to the game.
