Luisão - Miccoli Swap Deal In Progress?

According to Portuguese sports daily ‘A Bola’ (The Ball) there could be a swap deal in the works that would see Benfica accept Juventus striker Fabrizio Miccoli in exchange for centre-back Luisão next season.

Both men are currently in the service of Benfica, Luisão having been bought from Brazilian club Cruzeiro by the Portuguese Encarnados in 2003 and Miccoli having arrived after falling out with the former Juve hierarchy and being loaned to Benfica in 2005.

It’s no secret that Deschamps is eager to count on the towering Brazilian back as a defensive pillar of a reborn Vecchia Signora that should make a re-appearance in Serie A next season – always assuming the Italian management can exhibit fair play.

Benfica are loathe to admit it, but they know that the coveted centre-back – now a regular in Brazil call-ups and widely seen as the replacement for an ageing Lúcio in a couple of years time – will be targeted for next season and may well leave Da Luz.

The Italian, for his part, has settled well in Lisbon and is already a firm fan favourite despite his stay so far having been plagued by injuries. The 'Little Bombardier' has mentioned on more than one occasion that he's very happy to stay in the Portuguese capital but Juve have the final word.

He's strong, but also quite dumb and clumsy from what i've seen.
and has alcohol problems, 0 technique with the ball on his feet..
I watch him play every week and he's a walking waste of wages

ok i'll put it this way for all you to understand:

Boum Boum > Luisao

HELL

Legrottaglie > Luisao

he didnt have the best of seasons in Hamburg although the whole team choked(choking) but from the begining i saw him making some foolish mistakes and causing some silly goals.

mybe that could be changed

I watched Luisao look completely dumbfounded in today's Benfica loss in the Taca de Portugal. Does not bode well. I would rather take Nelson, who scored an own goal today. That should tell you something. :scared:

Luisao is better than Boumsong, that's for sure. But I would prefer Andrade as well and certainly Metzelder. The central defender Alex would be another interesting Brazilian target as well.

from the three i would certainly choose Andrade, I didnt see him play for a while but i think he would be a great option.
I would choose him over Metzelder simply because i think that as a player hes more complete and hes a better leader. Metzelder is no stranger to the odd mistake here and there and that was shown during the friendly against Switzerland where he was the Swiss's goal was partially his mistake.

Well Metzelder was certainly solid for Germany as far as I remember, and for Dortmund he always was rather solid as well, barring injuries. Considering he would come for free I would love to have him as a back up for somebody... he isn't that bad of a player.

I'm a big fan of Christoph since 2002 when he was a starter for Germany in the WC. He has/had a big personality and held his own when he was playing next big personalities like Woerns,Ramelow and Nowotony. His leadership qualities were evident from a young age. Ofcourse playing next to the great Jurgen Kohler at a young age doesnt harm as well.

After the multiple injuries he sustained, his confidence got a big hit and never completely recuperated.Hes a very good defender but he will need a leader next and relying on him to lead the defense would be a risk.

this is where someone like Andrade would come in or even a more experienced defender.

and in a year or less am sure Metze would have his confidence back and would leading the line.

metzelder is logical cuz he would be free.

I would rather use miccoli in a swap for Barzagli. And with rumours of cannavaro saying he may consider a move back to juve, it gives us more of a world class line up.
