Barcelona's tactical flow with messi is perfect against todays peasant defences. But when encountering a serious team, if they would put messi on the wing, and had a true complete centreforward like cavani/falcao, they would be so, SO much better.
Ronaldo on the other hand is fine, but his madrid, unlike barcelona, is not well balanced. Madrid's style requires some holding mids that are physically strong and domminating, but at the same time excellent at passing and building up.
Essien was bought 4 years to late. De Rossi 4 years ago would also have been a most excellent fit.
But no, buying that overpriced Bale when having Di Maria made morse sense to their senile president

Both fantastic players, Ronaldo is like the most complete player you could ask for, speed, technique, strength, good with both feet, good heading, set pieces etc.
Messi doesn't have some of Ronaldo's attributes but hes probably still better because of his intelligence and ball control..he keeps the ball so close to his feet and accelerates so quickly that you almost have to foul him to take the ball off him
