If Ronaldo was more of a team player and was less self obsessed he'll be a much better player than he already is. I love Messi, but if i were to choose just the one, Ronaldo would get my vote cos he simply has it all. Aerial ability, freekick, creativity, pace, strength. Obviously Messi has the same apart from his heading.
yeah absolutely, and he is a choker too

i mean,he would never have the vision, ability or instinct to score a header in a champions league final against someone like vidic or ferdinand

Well, Ronaldo can't really dictate the game either when it comes to being the presence in midfield that controls the pace of play. It's always straight forward with the guy. Moreover, his presence does go missing in times of need, just like Messi would be if he was starved of the ball.

I'll give Ronaldo credit for imposing himself a bit more because of his speed and athleticism and spirit, but that doesn't necessarily make him the better player pound for pound. I do believe though that you're sort of mixing up adjectives here... Ronaldo would be the explosive player in my opinion while Messi would be the creative force. The former has more of a drive that I would call explosive.
we are on the same page here

i never said he could, i was correcting bozi about messi. I love messi as a player but based on what i saw from both players i grudgingly admit c ronlado is the better overall player imo
correcting me? ah so thats what your OPINION is then?mt good man where can i buy your gospel, coz if it aint the word according to you,it aint worth Jack

But we can all agree that both Messi and Ronaldo combined have nothing on Zidane.
:toast:

Seriously, C. Ronaldo is the more complete player, looking at all things combined(stature, power, versatility, technique, etc.). However, Messi is what you call unstoppable and impossible to contain, due to his speed and agility. Both have extraordinary technique, but as far as creativity and utilizing your teammates goes, Messi is better. Both are great one-on-one, but C. Ronaldo is a much bigger ball-hog and doesn't find his teammates as good and as often as Messi does.

I'd say Messi is the better player, purely because I've seen him choke less times than C. Ronaldo. It's a difficult question, neither answer is wrong, it depends on what style suits you more.

But if I were to choose which player I would see in this Juve we have now, I would go with C. Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi

PS I never like his pick of music tho, I always mute it and put my own.

yes my opinion and that of anyone who watched him play: Messi cant create
nope i know this may be hard to understand but..well...YOU ARE WRONG! i mean if you are talking about dictating play from deep, looking for the forward runs, playing in a deadweight pass, then no,Messi can't create

but

if you mean he can pick up a ball, run at the defense, skip past men for fun and lay the ball off to a grateful forward to tapo into the net, theni am pretty sure that is creating a goal...and boy does Messi do that often

There isn't much more i can add to be honest. I've said all i have to say on this topic.

I just find it rather odd that one would say Messi is not a creative player. His link up play, penetration, his passing in tight spaces and also his through passes all make him a really creative player.

He is involved in the build up of most of Barca's goals these past 3 years. He has been the direct creator of 8 goals too this season in the Liga alone, a lot of them have been brilliant through passes to his teammates.

yup i am somewehat flummoxed by this rather outragous claim that Messi is not creative, seems like a rather pathetic attempt to justify their favouritism of Ronaldo rather than concentrating on the area's that Ronaldo is better.

funny thing is he seemed to completely disregard my comment about Messi being unable to head tha ball,in big games, against defenders the calabre of Ferdinand,Vidic,etc....

It's all getting rather messy.

My tuppence worth is that there are games Ronaldo is better, and games when Messi is better. Both the best at the moment, but neither is a real great nor likely to be. Zizou was are that person of our time- they are rare- the next is yet to be seen, or perhaps noticed.

C. Ronaldo obviously. Messi is too egoistic and manages to score goals partially because of his talent and the other part is the sublime efforts of Xavi/Iniesta/Ibrahimovic... Put C. Ronaldo with, say West Ham, and he would still be firing on all cylinders...

He is the quickest player in the world (proven by a German test).

Messi more egoistic? And Ronaldo doesn't have creastive teamates? And if one is quicker then the other that doesn't neceseraly make one better.

I would pick Messi any day over Ronaldo, they are both on almost the same level but I like Messi's style and attitude more than Ronaldo's.
