In my boredom and procrastination from work, I binge-watched some Messi videos during his physical prime (2009 to 2015). I almost feel ashamed for having forgotten just how ridiculously good Messi was at his peak. The speed, precision, and micro-control of his dribbling is alien-like.

The whole Messi vs Ronaldo debate is a funny thing. You look at stats on Wikipedia and you think Ronaldo has a strong case. Then you go on YouTube and you watch them play, and then suddenly Messi is so obviously better.

Messi is just more breath-taking to watch than Ronaldo, and for the football fans who are purists, that counts for a lot. @Afghan_juventus probably agrees with me on this.

I also find it amusing that @Zacheryah and @Bianconero81, two football purists who love Zidane, can then turn around and rank Ronaldo above Messi. That makes absolutely no logical sense and defeats the purpose of their own criteria.

I agree 100% with. Many people lack football knowledge and look only at goal scoring . But there is no doubt that Messi is a much better all round player.
Ronaldo is a great goal scorer no doubt about that. Messi is much more talented. He scores , create , great passer, dribbler. But Ronaldo plays now in Juventus,

Anyway, I don’t blame Ronaldo for his inability to dribble in the same fashion as Messi. Ronaldo is tall, has long legs, and has a heavy upper body. His physique does not suit dribbling.

More ideal Maybe for dribbling. Of course it's easier to dribble when the distance between your eyes and ball is shorter + your legs are shorter so it gives you the higher velocity of the feet, but that's about it. That still doesn't make it more ideal, as long as football ain't all about dribbling. Dribbling has become less popular day by day and those old days of Maradona and Pele going past players like it's fun compared to the pro athletes nowdays is totally different. For example Man City tries to mimimize the chance of losing the ball, so why take a risk go 1v1 when you can use the movement of ball in order to get past players for free?

Messi won't be the posterboy for athleticism just because he doesn't look like a one. As being said, any individual sport and he wouldn't succeed so he's hanging there with his team m8s doing all the dirty work for him, so he could have his couple seconds of flair with the ball by being fully recovered compared to the opponent, who's running his lungs out. Ronaldo nowdays ain't any different, but the difference is that with the physique he has, he could easily be playing individual sports with zero support required by anyone - where Messi couldn't.

Ronaldo used to be a great dribbler and still does it once a while, but like being said, why would he? What's the point of him trying to even be around the field where a dribble would make a sense, since his qualities are way better at scoring direct goals? Messi can't do that, so all he has is that dribbling and yet we're are talking about dribbling. We could go ahead and ask Messi to do things Ronaldo has done or is doing in a same note and we would make him look absolute terrible where Ronaldo hangs there with the dribbling, just because he's more versatile.

Sometimes it wonders me how stupid people are. Or, maybe they ain't stupid but they're so deep into their fanboyism that truth and reality are too farfetched for them.
