Yeah, the coach argument trumps everything. Yaay. It would be impossible to debate anything if ur gonna hide behind 'Allegri, DD' know the best.. its pointless and redundant. Its also not Matuidi's fault our other CM options looked even more underwhelming so the critique goes mostly to Fabio. But now it seems we have several options, so Sarri has no excuse if he is keen on Sarriball. The way his Napoli played was pretty neat and I dont see how Blaise would fit in.

My whole point is to at least argue why his positives arent needed on the field. Saying other players are better passing proves nothing. But if thats what your knowledge is limited to stick with that I guess. Most likely Sarri wants someone with better passing n the field in that position but cant due to other inefficiencies. Ill help you

Berna is more of a right sided player so having him on the field due to injury forced Ronaldo into a wider left position for balance. Now that we have Ramsey and Costa back we can move them around more and Keep Ronaldo higher so we dont need the defensive support for Ronaldo anymore. Not sure why Sarri needs to play him as much now that we dont need the support(fun fact he isnt playing him as much now that our AMs give us more ability for balance. Also puts ronaldo closer to goal)

People dont understand what he brings to the table. Its always important to ask what the coach(they always know more than you) sees in the player. Matuidi on both France and Juve covers a lot of ground.He supports the wide positions when Ronaldo cuts in or can cover Sandro if he goes up. Same when Griez would go center behind Giroud giving now width out wide left.
So ask why is it important to have good spacing out wide and also if other players can do that effectively both offensively and defensively. Unfortunately most viewers knowledge ends right around 5 yeards from the ball at any time

How about ruining almost all attacking plays that goes on the left?
If matuidi is playing instead of rabiot against Roma, do you think Ronaldo scores that goal?
Matuidi in possession would probably send a backpass to pjianic in that situation.

The point is his negatives far outweight what he brings to the table and having him on the pitch is making us look like playing with a man down... His running and covering doesnt mask his defficiencies any longer to make it worthwhile. We need to move on.

I agree that he can slow down the attack. Now that our AMs can be more versatile we dont need Matuidi running past Ronaldo on offense and getting high while sprinting back.

Someone posted that he runs on average 10.3 km per game or something like that.
For someone who is a tireless midfielder that's bang average, hence his decline in doing the only thing he is good at. Closing opposition, pressing, helping the defense in transition, covering for Ronaldo.
Also I think our game obviously suffer with him on the field, because his ability to evade the press is non existent.
That's also the reason why Lazio dominated us after Bentacur left with injury.
Suddenly our only mid that could evade the press and cary the ball forward left the field and neither matuidi nor Emre can are good at it.

Agreed and when we had to slow the game down to keep the balance he was exposed constantly. Hes not a tight spaces player for sure. We had a serious balance issue early on. No we are moving much faster into space and dont require mids to overlap high up the field. How many times did matuidi make overlapping runs in the box with ronaldo. ALL THE TIME. We dont need that anymore that we have an AM thats more versatile and we can move faster. Mids can come in support making it easier to get up but also being behind the ball when defending or losing the ball.

Its not about his overlaps but also the spacing. Like it or not no one else on our team could have helped us the way he did. The RB would have had no one out wide and been completely free to mark ronaldo more or to break once they win the ball giving us no control over the position in which we gain control. Hopefully we dont have that issue again but thats betting on the helath of Ramsey and Costa

Fast forward, he has lost that grinta due to be in the wrong side 30.now you have a player who doesn't add anything special to the team and destroys every single attack we make through him.

I'm okay with him being squad player, but no more starting in important matches while better players watching him doing absolutely nothing all game from the bench.

Oce again I agree now that we have balance in the front 3. When we had Berna we were different due to to an unbalance between the left and right. Costa and Ramsey are the difference. I have said this all season. Matuidi was needed bc of this. Now hes not needed as much. I dont however think he was never needed

I just hope he will do the same thing with Matuidi, that he did with Bernadeschi, permanent place on the bench. Then hopefully kick him out of the club next summer. There is simply no place for a midfielder like Matuidi in a team aspiring to win CL.
