Sarri:
“In terms of characteristics, I think this team is suited to playing with a man behind the strikers, rather than three upfront. This is a system that rather penalised Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Douglas Costa has played as a trequartista too, especially at Shakhtar Donetsk. He’s only been back for two days, so we didn’t have time to test him in that role.

i can somewhat see his point. that there "market opportunity" transfer policy ending up again with a bunch of players who dont suit any cohesive plan/formation :baus:

Higuain is the only striker available who has the characteristics of a real centre-forward, the others are more atypical. Despite dominating possession, we always risk not having enough presence in the box without Gonzalo.”

damn it... if we only had another player available to play that role so we can use him in this situations... :rolleyes2:

“This is a squad that won eight consecutive Serie A titles, so I think they might be lacking a bit of determination, both going forward and defending.”

Well... thats kind of your job to correct...

How did 4-3-3 penalized Ronaldo? He's being penalized now. Of course it's better for Dybala, but at the end of the day you want to win not just cater to one player.

im not saying it penalized ronaldo but i think one could argue that playing ronaldo in that position does force the team to compensate for him. he is a very untraditional winger.

Even a more nontraditional forward though. The thing is, it is obvious that this has been found out. A little change between formations won't kill anyone.

Thank fuck for Tuz whipping boy, Bonucci. If Badass (and some other usually more rational posters) had their way, he’d be sold or riding the bench behind a Demiral - De Ligt pairing that would be leaking goals and cards left and right. We’d be down in 4th or 5th right now without Bonucci thanks to this anemic attack.
look at the pjaca thread. there is no hope for him.
