It was clearly a very bad joke but the fact that the coach of JUVENTUS made a comment like that is an extremely bad look and imo is close to a sackable comment for me.

i think context is important. it would be one thing if he had a juventino past ala Conte but when he has a trash past, frequently made derogatory comments about juve getting favors before, flipped off fans, and claimed he was glad to help Napoli then these comments are not appropriate.

Coming from someone like him with an anti-Juve past, it can easily be seen as one of the jokes with some truth in it. It gives fuel to the widely held belief that Juve is systematically favoured.

no i meant if conte had made that joke while still coach of Juventus/ pre inter. obviously now i would resent conte if he made jokes about juve match fixing while coaching a rival.

By whome? Anti juve crowd? They will think this way regardless of what anyone says. He should be more careful when adressing media, but we are talking about a guy who showed middle finger to our fans, who was often badmouthing us when he coached Napoli so I didnt expect he would suddenly adopt a more classy behavior after joining us. Whatever he does, its more on Agnelli and Nedved and testament of their capabilities to evaluate someone's character, if he is a good fit for this establishment, can he cope under pressure, etc...

His "joke" isn't even factually correct. We've had 8 penalties this season thus far. For comparison last season we had 11 and the year before that 12.
