He did pretty well at AC Milan too. Won them the league on the first season, after a 7 year absence. He also somehow made SES and Balotelli look good and took them third when they just sold their only 2 good players. Had he not became a Juve legend, Milan fans would have probably remembered fondly too.

With that said, he's clearly out of date.
He made nocerino into a goalscoring midfielder, much like rabiot now

who would you hire? realistic choices only, no kloppo or shit like that pls
Seriously Zidane is our only realistic and best option

you established a silly rule. stop creating these shit criteria so that you don't have to explain yourself
No it's not.

Allegro has never coached in a top 2 league and won trophies, he's never won the champions league. By default, that doesn't make him an elite tier coach. He'd have a better chance of being in the conversation if he had won trophies with a team outside Italy. You can't compare 90s Serie A which was the pinnacle of football at the time to 2010s Serie A so there's no point bringing up names like Lippi.

It's a shit criteria according to you because you can't digest the fact that he's not in the conversation among elite coaches. Instead you proceeded to mock my post by slipping in names like Sarri and Conte which had no relevance to what I was saying.

Allegro is a great coach, he will be remembered as a Juve legend despite his disastrous second stint. He just won't be regarded as an elite tier coach.

I will ask you again. Please stop with your selective quoting, pull it out of context and mock/bash them just to make your Allegro groupie happy.

If this helps, I'll pm Dai and PI to rep each and every post of yours just so you don't have to head down this route. Thanks.

that argument would put coaches like conte or sarri above someone like lippi or ferguson

allegri should have said yes to real and take that job, everyone would be in a better (or at least not worse) position now
How much I would have loved that he accepted.
They would ship him back in a minute after seeing his dacdics and game management.

Do you not know how to spell his name or is this an attempt at humour?
Allegri = Juve legend, multiple league winner, CL finalist, humble coach

Allegro = Strong proponent and believer of jihadball, throws young players under the bus, can't take criticism, developed an army of radicals that align with his ideology. Quite literally the devil that this club didnt deserve at this point.

It is important to make that distinction

God..

It is mind blogging that I dont recall a player coached by Allegri coming out and saying, "we practiced this goal/tactics/movemeng in training."
Or
"The coach explained to us this how to use "whatever" for "whatever""

I remember seeing the preparation for the Napoli game (vs. Sarri) Where Allegro was explaining how the players should be positioning/moving to block the passing lines of Napoli..

Other than that.. my memory is failing me

I guess you guys are getting the point

Gets put into his place by someone with more common sense than him
Doesn't know what to say
Randomly attacks other members to evoke a humoured response from his fellow allegri cultists.

Nice deflection tactics.

He was absolutely an elite tier coach from 2014-2019. Name the coaches who were more successful in those 5 years? Zidane. That’s it. He was the second most successful coach in all of football over those 5 years. 5 scudetti, 4 straight domestic doubles, 2 CL finals with a significantly smaller budget than the biggest teams. That’s elite tier any way you slice it.

Where I agree with you is looking at him from an all-time perspective. Without a CL he doesn’t belong in the all-time greatest coaches category. Seems obvious.

of course i didn't

you can only please those two with some utter nonsense so i couldn't care less
Please whom?

You were the one who quoted my post.

This was a discussion about whether Allegri belongs in the very top tier of coaches.

My argument was relevant given that he hasn't had an experience abroad coaching in the best leagues in the world.

Your only intention of replying to my post was mocking me by bringing up names like Conte and Sarri. Seems you're really obsessed with these two coaches.

He's better than Conte and Sarri, I'll give you that. But when you look back at his career, would you rank him in the same tier as Pep, Ancelotti, Mourinho etc? Which football pundit/journalist outside Italy thinks he belongs in this list?

Ofcourse this is all utter nonsense for you because you're in denial.

Ofcourse there was a time where he was elite. I didn't deny it.

We are also looking at overall body of work. Is his time at Juve and all the trophies he's won put him in the same conversation as the very best coaches in the world and their track record? I don't think so.

But would Allegri coaching a club in a top 2 league and winning trophies with them change that perspective? I absolutely believe so. That was my point.

He should've taken the Madrid job to cement his legacy but instead he blew that opportunity. Now he'll only be remembered fondly by Juve fans and Milan fans to an extent.

So.. same applies to Allegro

i agree with pi on allegri's long term evaluation: top coach before his sabbatical, disappointing after that. i have an impression that the home loss to man.utd broke him. you can cherry pick stuff, but he made mostly good choices before that, and became too passive after that match. if i could ask him one single thing, i'd ask him to either confirm or deny that

but the fact that he's yet to coach abroad has nothing to do with his evaluation for me, imo that's a very odd and random argument to make

Then we mostly agree. I don’t care much whether he took the Madrid job or coached in another top league. It was winning CL imo to get into the conversation of all-time greatest coaches.

I suppose winning a La Liga or PL title could have bumped him up slightly, but minimum one CL title alongside 4-5+ top 4 league titles is kinda my requirement for that all-time great category.
