that's an other extremist claim without context. funny that you sometimes mention context, and yet you completely forget it. we have multiple midfielders who are capable of playing mezzala at a high level, zero regista or pure dm though. we have solid fullbacks, only cuadrado can attack though (and inb4 you mention pellegrini, he's no juve level, so stop before you start). we have only cuadrado who can regularly take on defenders and get behind them on his own (plus chiesa, but his season was a mess too). we have no fast players besides those two either. we have a proper 9 since february, wingers wut. that swiss player also arrived at the end of the winter mercato then got injured. chiesa injured, mckennie injured, locatelli injured for months, dybala injured for half the season, etc. and of course zero leadership besides bonucci (injured a lot this season) and de ligt, which is simply insufficient.

bottom line is that this is an unbalanced squad, the worst in recent memory. even conte's first team had bbc, mvp and licht, an insanely strong core we can only dream about now. so that squad could cope with the league with estigarribia starting a few matches here and there.

All teams lose to lesser teams at times. The key to a successful league campaign is consistency, how much more often can you beat those than the competition. And this squad is not consistent, especially when you factor in the injuries

Zero regista - Locatelli was bought for this role but instead Allegri is jumping between players and trying to use rabiot and arthur as deep lying playmakers for no reason and then you blame them for playing bad, you know you can play without regista and succeed? somehow allegri doesn't.
We don't have a pure DM - since january we have a Zakaria who was used as pure dm for M'gladbach, ask Allegri why he prefers to use him in b2b role instead of using him as pure DM.
Fullbacks - last season Danilo has made 4 assists, Cuadrado has made 10 assists and Sandro has made 3 assists, this season all of them together have 5. How so ? To your point why do you think these episodes are happening so often then? Some in our current squad are clearly mentally weak but it seems to me it’s more of a collective issue than just a few individuals having a fuck all day. These are things that are supposed to be worked out by the coach.

I’d say we’ve had 3.5 years of getting worse and worse. The first half of 2019-20 we were on fire with Ronaldo-Mandzukic combo, and then we just collapsed midseason and have been in a rapid decline ever since. Especially mentally. Sarri’s team started fast and should have cruised to a scudetto but they got worse and worse as the season went on, our defense turned to shit and they almost bottled it even with Ronaldo and Dybala on fire and then bottled an easy Rof16 tie against Lyon. Pirlo had better team stats than Sarri, more goals, better goal differential, but we completely lost our ability to win the close matches under him and finished 4th and crashed out embarrassingly in Rof16 again because of this.

And this year we lost Ronaldo on day 1 and then a third of the way through the year lost Chiesa. Our only two players with fire and drive and fight in attack. Our mentality is gone to shit. That’s partly on Allegri and partly on the players and partly on the disastrous transfer policy and lack of grinta and fight and winning mentality instilled in the squad over the last years.

He has until midseason next year to get us improving. Otherwise we should move on.

no doubt Allegri hasn’t done a great job this season, it’s about bang average. First 4 games aside we’ve done ok, and we’ve been very unlucky in the H2H games, particularly the inter one.

Our style of play is poor though, no doubt. Is this players or manager? Truth is it’s both, the players we have don’t lend themselves to an adventurous and high intensity system but Allegri hasn’t given the team any identity and that’s a huge concern.

we shouldn’t sack him though, constant changing and no clear plan is what has got us here. Another transfer window and being able to change some of the dead bodies we have in this team will hopefully go a way to seeing us gain an identity again. Next season is going to be very disjointed with Qatar thrown in the middle so I hope he gets it right quickly. Another season like this and he will need sacking next year
