Straying off topic but I remember Salah wreaking havoc against us every time. When they signed him I told my Liverpool-fan-friend that I thought it was a really good signing. But I didn't imagine him being this good. His impact was way, way, way beyond my imagination. Same with Mane. Had barely seen Robertson, so.
Klopp deserves all the credit he gets but the management too (from scouts to directors). Careful scouting and clear ideas of what they need, want, and can get. EPL money helps of course but they are not wasteful. Our management does a lot of good but needs a change. Allegri also deserves to have some actual working input. We would like different under someone like Pep but with the CMs we have, the outcome wouldn't necessarily be better (may even be worse). I give Allegri a lot of negative comments because I prefer managers with their own philosophy that encompasses everything. Less tactical, more envisioning, kind of. This being said, Allegri is a world class coach irregardless how I feel about his approach. He is fairly simple as well. Easy to understand his reasoning by just watching us play, and for this season I've agreed with his set ups most of the time (I have set up things similarly on paper as him). Differences is only the approach, such as, I would not sit on the Polack's knees every time we loose the ball and I've always advocated Dybala to start out wide and then roam and drift in centrally. Anyway, I think why I tend to agree with his set up this season is simply the lack of options. We have, like everyone is saying, no creative spark in midfield. Doesn't really matter which option he puts on, the outcome will be the same. If we had a reliable RB I'd even prefer Danilo staying in CM for next season. He's quicker on the ball, roams more and has a decent reading of the game. If he plays 433, 442, 352, 111111etc doesn't matter, the team is built on counter-attacking players.
Morata is, and has always been, a counter-attacker. Chiesa started to learn to play in possession and thanks to his determination and one-on-one ability it bodes very well. Pirlo made this analysis last season and I agree. Same for Kulusevski. Paratici seemed fond of these types of players and they suit Allegri and Conte, but we need more players like Cuadrado and Dybala (but in other places on the field) that can keep possession and create while in possession. Not sure where we would be this season without Cuadrado.
