my thread got deleted yesterday...
look, to put it simply, the problem lies beyond just the coaches
the problem is on this club transfer policy
we need to have and actually use pacey, agile, explosive, technical players that can bring the ball with their feet to terrorize opponent defenses, this team only has cuadrado and chiesa for that, we need like 4 more of them, especially on the full back positions and also in the middle... why, well because those kind of players are the ones that forces opposition defenses to commit mistakes and also put enormous pressure on their mentalities when facing this team...
and this goes beyond than just simply transfer policy either, this is something that reside in the dna of this club too, consider that in the past 25 years that I've been watching this club, those kind of players that ever graced this club can be counted by our hand fingers...
it's not just about whether the players that we have are WC or not, but their characteristic matters too, and the player characteristics that I mentioned before is the one this club has been "historically" lacking, I don't know about you people but now I can understand the similarity between capello's juve, conte's juve and allegri's juve that failed again and again in europe, they all are full of slow players that cannot play modern football compared to other top teams from modern era (late 90s - today)
that's also part of the why this club, has been consistently unable to impose our game to the opponents both domestically and in europe, and also prone to play what some members here lately depicted as flagellant football or sit back defensive football, no matter who the coaches are. it also why historically this club had bad times facing EPL teams where they play with pace, and pressure and we unable to counter, isn't this makes sense now? or do many of you still don't get it?
and no...! obtaining "pyrrhic victories" where the oppositions dominated this club throughout the games but somehow unable to score while we nick a goal or two to win 1-0 or something like that, is not something a club of this stature should still stand for in this era, and it is also not something that can be sold to the audience as a club with prestige... and the truth is, for 1 or 2 such "pyrrhic victories" we'd also get knocked out or stomped triple times over as evidenced by our CL campaigns in the last 10 years.
this extends to the whole italian football too, while they are the current european champions somehow, I think that was more because the quality of national teams have been going down as a whole, but on the club level, practically in the last 12 years after merda era, italian clubs have been achieving nothing in europe, especially also with us, considering that we often got stomped out from the competition no matter whether it was in r16 or in finals.
so this is not 100% on the coach.
this club need to acquire players with "modern" characteristics and try to integrate their characteristics into the team play, otherwise we're just keep repeating the doomed circle.
