With Max we win atleast 1/2 cups and don't go out vs Lyon (thought the CL season and draws might have gone entirely differently with Max here). So that is what the change did.

Btw, change could have been done differently than downgrading the coach. Like, get the one that won you 11 trophies in 5 years some players he asks for. That would have been a nice change for starters

Inzaghi was a natural fit as the Allegri successor. But sarri fooled people with his failure to fall out of the top4 in EPL (despite his best efforts) and winning the UEL. There were a lot of coaches who were better fits, both short term (if Pep/ZZ was the ultimate goal) and long term. sarri was just meh

It’s true he didnt win CHL after Barca. But his teams played fine football, and I dont recall last time he didnt win anything in a calendar year. He is a winner and he believes in his football.

In both matches it was 1-1 in the second half before Barca snuck out a win, and Real thrashed us. We were as close as one can get to winning the CL with Max. There’s absolutely no reason to think that with proper reinforcements he couldn’t have taken us over the hump.

Allegri had 2 amazing squads when he took us to them two CL finals, was able to play much better football back then but the squad has changed alot and he was never going to win the CL with us this season or next. We had to try something different but we fucked up with the replacement and lack of a WC midfielder. We are basically the same team as last year minus De Ligt but add in Chiellini and Cancelo and we sucked almost a bad as this year.

We actually got worse since last year, despite adding more quality. Only downgrade was Cancelo>Danilo, but we did that partly with Cuadrado in mind

100% would have, with De Ligt, Demiral, Rabiot, Ramsey added to the squad. Both Rabiot and Ramsey would have looked far better under Max. And De Ligt instead of Rugani for the meat of the season unlike last season after Chiellini got injured.

I don’t think we would have won CL, but I bet a domestic double, with around 90 pts, and we’d be in the CL quarters right now.

And here we are now. Instead of splurging on fixing our midfield after Cardiff, we slapped some bandaids on repeatedly. And then we hired an absolute fraud of a coach.

Anyways, it was probably time for a break for Allegri, he looked far too frustrated all last season and fought with the press too much, but we should have had a proper replacement in the works.
