Pjanic jogged 12 km today, more than anyone else. He is capable of playing high intensity football, but not on a weekly basis.

We need to save these kind of performances for the CL.

“I wanted this approach in the first leg, chose different players and it was tougher with those characteristics. We moved too slowly, didn’t push forward enough and our reading of the game wasn’t good enough."



I always find it funny when people put 100% of the blame on the manager, say his shit tactics are the only thing holding us back, etc... He is admitting that he made some poor choices in terms of player selection for the first leg, and it caused our approach to fail... but he wanted the same approach, and the players he chose did not (and maybe were not able to in some cases) deliver. Good to see he used the intervening period to work on the team, and evaluate players to switch up for today. Great tactical masterclass from Max.

Allegri to critics: 'What more can I do?'

Massimiliano Allegri hailed Emre Can and hit back at the Juventus doubters after eliminating Atletico Madrid. “What else am I supposed to do?”
There had been a mounting campaign from some fans to have the Coach axed at the end of this season after a 2-0 first leg defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano.
However, the Coach silenced his doubters with a dominant 3-0 victory and Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick to book a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“This is a very difficult tournament and when two teams are on a relatively similar level, these things can happen.”
Allegri was asked if the exit of sides like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain therefore made Juventus favourites for the trophy.
“No, Juventus are one of the contenders to win the Champions League. If we had gone out after a performance like that, there would’ve been little to say.
“If you don’t play in the Round of 16, you can’t dream of winning the Champions League, it doesn’t take a Harvard degree to know that. If you go through the group phase, you can hope, otherwise you focus on the Europa League. It’s one step at a time.”
This was a tactical masterclass from Allegri, who was missing suspended Alex Sandro, plus injured Mattia De Sciglio, Douglas Costa, Sami Khedira, Andrea Barzagli and Juan Cuadrado.
Juve ended up using Emre Can as almost an extra defender, coming back to fill the gaps when Joao Cancelo and Leonardo Spinazzola bombed forward.
“We wanted to take this approach in the first leg, but we managed it in the second. If Martin Caceres had been in that position, we would’ve been more defensive, whereas Emre played the ball well. I needed someone who could push forward with the ball and he did it very well.
“He defended strongly and showed good character. In my view, it was Emre Can’s best performance since he’s been at Juve. He proved himself tonight.”

His tactics were spot on, did not set 1 foot wrong. From game-plan to subs (including the timing of them). I think he found his formation that we are going to use until the end of the season. The only question right now is are we going to continue with Mandzukic in that role or is he going to use Dybala. He has a little under a month to figure that out.

We knew he is a tactical genius but Max FINALLY changed the MENTAL approach

No playing to extra time

No taking things for granted

No reserving subs for ET

No sitting back after doing just enough in CL

He bloody put on Kean and Dybala while we led 2-0

Max of old would defend and wait out to ET without using all or putting in late subs and we would concede due to silly mistakes brought out by fatigue

Give the man some time. Its just one match (what a match), but consistency is key here. So please do not sing victory songs yet.

The team didnt "peaked". Wtf.
We were balls to the walls and the coach FINALLY let loose the brakes on the team for the boys to deliver. It was the least he could do after he horror shows we have witnesed as of late

This was so UNALLEGRI that is almost unreal.... like if someone possesed allegris body.
