Lippi had Del Piero and Zidane -- players who farted magic and pissed champagne. That's the difference.

+ Davids who's basically on par with them. The difference in other lines is striking too. Lippi had Alessio Tacchinardi while Max has to deal with Khedira and Can. Lippi had monstrous Montero, and Juliano, and Ferrara in defence (I'd like to put Bonucci and Montero in the same team and watch what happens btw ). Lippi had a supreme squad with no flaws whatsoever.

Exactly - there were Deschamp and Conte, like now Juventus also have Pjanic and Matuidi. But back then Lippi had Tacchinardi while now Allergi is offered Can as a reinforcement. That's the difference.

Just try some other players in midfield. Just try it against small teams. Maybe we can find an answer somewhere. Bernardeschi or even Cancelo or even Pjanic playing B2B.

There is simply not a single passing option in the middle of the field except Dybala who has 10 players on him. Every action goes down the wing and the opposition knows that.

Even if you somehow get it in between the lines to Matuidi, Bentancur, Can, etc.. they simply cannot turn and attack. The ball will come back to the defence and the opposition will reset their press.

Bernardeschi could be an option, as he knows how to make runs with the ball. Players like that guy-Tanguy would have been a blessing right now.

We NEED technical B2Bs and AMs. Our midfield is a waste right now.

Allegri is just throwing his head against a wall time after time. He will have to get inventive....because sacrificing dybala is not good for the team on the long run,

Yup.

The diffrence is in our attacking phase as a whole.

Every single playerfrom the midfield upwards from that team were playing their best football with cohesion, and some among them were simply magical (primeZidane-Prime DP).

Thats what we are missing now, attacking cohesion. We have the CL GOAT and some very capable players around him. Our midfield and attacking gameplan is what is letting us down.

I love Lippi, but this idea that Allegri can’t win CL is pretty funny. Give him 4 finals against inferior teams and I’m pretty certain he’ll win a CL or two.

I love Lippi, but this idea that Allegri can’t win CL is pretty funny. Give him 4 finals against inferior teams and I’m pretty certain he’ll win a CL or two.

He can win the CL the guy obviously knows how to grind out results. He would win it in a style resembling Chelsea's more than Bayern/Barca/Madrid. I hope he wins it this season so that atleast withstanding this excruciating football pays off.

The guy had to endure the biggest losses by losing some of his key players, especially in midfield and not penny-pinch for a position everyone saw we needed reinforcement for the last 2/3 years. There is not a single coach who could deliver what Allegri delivered with this material and people keep doubting the tactical masterbrain he is. There is simply no way to play attractive football with the current midfielders we have right now, with the exception of Pjanic, who for some reason has his head in his ass for some months now. I don't care what football we play, all I care for is winning titles.

This. Sometimes it feels like this is some kind of elaborate psychological torture: whenever the squad comes as close to perfection as possible, it always lose some players without whom it doesn't feel perfect anymore.

And sometimes it even doesn't look like something that really has to be done, but rather like an additional optimization. As a result, the squad is missing some tiny piece that eventually renders all efforts useless.

It looks like this:
TUZ: Yeah, finally, the squad is perfect.
Marotta: Nah, let's loan or sell some guy for peanuts (since I don't know how to sell for big money anyway). Just to balance the sheets. Not that we really need it, but this is a psychological torture, remember? Haha! By the way, I will eventually spend all those money on ten Hernaneses anyway, just to make you suffer even more.

We're not going to win the CL playing like this tho. It's possible, but highly unlikely. We'd have to have an immense amount of luck and get a good draw (provided we get past ATM). Our midfield is nowhere near CL level; it's not even the best midfield in Serie A.

What amazes me is the management's inability to poach any decent midfielder in last summer's transfer window. With their experience, they (management) should have had the foresight to see what most fans could see: that betting on Can was way too risky. They had already seen the capabilities of their existing midfielders. Sadly, this is one of the worst midfields I have seen since 1983. We are lucky that the rest of Serie A is utter garbage in this day and age.
