seriously? they 12/13 team was Udinese level.
and id say that 2012 Milan is an example of a team that doesent support your argument (obviously, since they didnt win, but there is more). names wise, that was an impressive team, but a very old and finished team. they had like 5-6 players playing their last season and retiring, they had Ibrahimovic and Silva, both in their primes and WC, and they had a bunch of mediocre well paid players like Abate, Nocerino, Boateng etc. in addition, heir season was plagued by injuries, so most of those veterans missed quite a number of games. on the other hand, you had a group of players here that were all in their primes still, or about to enter their primes. Gigi at age 33, Licht 27, Chiellini 27, Barzagli 30, Bonucci 24, Pirlo 32, Vidal and Marchisio 24, Vucinic and Quagliarella 28, Matri 27. also, no CL football helped for more rest, and we had no major injuries all year (compare that to now lol). still a great accomplishment by the club, just putting some perspective into it, to show how richest teams dont always win, arent always the best on paper, and how different factors can ruin a clubs season totally.
we were in kind of a similar situation this season, we dont exactly have half our starting XI on the wrong side of the 30s and 7-8 players retire at the same time. we also have more quality and depth compared to that Milan, but the situation is similar. we had a long season in 3 competitions (Napoli gone out early in all cups), we had tons of injuries ( @Hustinis signature says it all), we struggled to find the right formation due to form of players and difficulty to fit in the new ones. only difference is that unlike Milan, we managed to pull it off in the end
