As good as bonucci was at passing, still, we cannot blame everything on his sale.
Bonuccis long passes were a good option when we needed to change rhytm playing precise hoofball. But that was an extra tool, that should NOT be the bulk of our play.
The midfield is the critical area here. We need skilled midfielders able to get the ball from the back, and get it to the enemy field as a group. That requires skill.
For now, i think we need players who want to be involved in the midfield. Players like pjanic, marchiso and betancourt. And matuidi of course because he is the only physical player we have.
But for the summer, we desperately need to find skilled players for the midfield.
And even this alone will not do, because you can have all the iniestas in the world, but if the coach doesnt know how to focus the momevemnt of the team on team, and just order to hoofball to the wingers... we will never have a gameplan.
Allegri needs to finally develop a midfield that can dominate with passes and possesion. Defensive grinta is great, but it cannot be used everygame and pretend it will work.
I repeat, we need to find a balance in midfield and try to dominate in possesion and passing.

A big problem I seen is Chiellini seems to get on the ball quite a lot and him having 2 left feet is not ideal for him to be making passes with
As much as people hate to admit it, we do miss Bonucci for this as when the midfield was struggling having him make passes from defence was a great back up option

But why we MUST have a ball playing defender to fix our issues? I mean. Im not against it of course, but the fact that we NEED one is more an issue of our midfield, than directly with the defender.
You dont see ball playing geniuses in the defense on every team. Most defenders get the ball and pass it to the winger or closest midfielder he has for them to start the play.

Yes i know, but if the problem is that we get overrun on the midfield, then lets tackle that problem! Instead of looking for elusive ballplaying defenders to be able to make dybala worth a dime. See my point?
The issue is a complex systematic thing, because we cant use dybala in most of our formations, and on top of it all, our midfield is incomplete. But theres were the work needs to be done.

Imo we are better off with only one striker
That means selling one of Dybala or Higuain
Dybala will have to change into an out and out striker, i'm sure if he is surrounded by 2 wingers he will adapt and score goals
Higuain is declining so probably makes sense to sell him but knowing the management Dybala will be sold somewhere down the line
