The only thing ANY coach can do to a player like Neymar is give him instructions. Someone at that level already knows all there's to know at a very young age. He just improves those attributes, nothing else. You guys give coaches waaaay too much credit when it's always gonna come down to the players you have and what they can do.
One word for what made that Barcelona trio work? Talent. Everybody doubted it would work because on paper they thought a #9 couldn't play on the wings, Messi not on center? Bullshit. A simple example: Higuain get 3 clear chances and misses them all. They have a counterattack from one of those chances and score. Having conceded we feel the need to press even more. They're now relaxed because they're ahead and takes advantage of our need to score and score again.
People will blame Allegri when two things: maybe our defense really wasn't organized enough and allowed those goals to happen but then maybe if Higuain had score 2 from those chances we'd have put he game to rest ages ago, The strongness of our attack, in this case the talent of said player, compensated for not having the best defensive unit. Then everybody would praise Allegri.

I agree smart and good attackers find ways to work the defence as the match progress. But even then its always in some combinations and support from midfield and overall movement of forwards. It's not as directionless, free for all as you make it sound. What you're describing is an individual play or moment of magic that happens every once in a while.

That's true, they did struggle. In fact they had 180 minutes and no goals against us. But let's take a look at what we had:
Alves, easily the best right back in the world. And on the best form of his life.
Alex Sandro, I think we'll all agree he's the second best left back after Marcelo. Also in great form then.
Bonucci, arguably the best defender in the world then, some will say after Ramos. The best season of his career.
Chiellini, he has his ups and downs but generally he's a top defender. Tough, fast and passionate.

Benatia on 2ND goal was embarrassing and Sturaro completely fucked up shape of our backline as soon as he was subbed. (Barzagli was literally playing next to him) but we are talking about our attack and overall play going forward that is lacking.

Offcourse its different, but it does not mean that a organised attack is not as important. Spanish and German football culture has been totally dominant in the last 10 years, both on club and national team levels. That is two football cultures who is focused on possesion football, gegenpressure and overall attacking movement as a team. In this time the classic Italian style of an organised defense, counterattacks, setpieces and individual brilliance have won fuck all on an international level.
Offcourse the team with the better individual players, have a better chance of winning, but stating that having an attacking plan does not matter is just beyond moronic.

Agree. Somes are just in denial. Brazil was shit with the last two coaches in attack supposedly cuz they missed a new Ronaldo9. Well they still don't have one, they changed coach and now they r killing everyone. Football is so complicated that you can't just do one defensive and one attacking plan, it has to be just one big plan, you can change it around the game but defense and attack are so connected like two horny teenagers
