IMO tonight was a perfect example of an Allegri team.
In the first half we controlled the game with a nearly perfect defensive performance and some good counterattacks.
In the second half we had to be proaktive team. Again we have absolute no offensive team movements. Everything is dependend on individual performances. We start making to many mistakes because there is no plan at all.
As long as we dont have to chase the game we are good. If we go behind against a quality team, we are in big trouble.

Well, Rugani has been rather inconsistent this season, and might have been exposed today as bad as Benatia, so i won't blame Allegri for not fielding him. The fact is however, that we let go of 2 top 5 defenders and have replaced them with nothing or with serious downgrades. Rugani is going to be special in the future but is far from Bonucci's level today and i won't even discuss MDS. You simply can't get away with that every single year. After the game in Cardiff last season, i've said that our confidence would be taking a huge hit and today we showed to be incapable of getting back in a game we trail. I still feel like we are recovering from that game back in June, and only time will tell whether that is going to be this season.
Their leadership shouldn't be underestimated. barzagli is done. Shouldn't be starting against barca away anymore. We are injury ridden right now.

Our entire left side ball watched on the one goal.
You guys keep talking about losing Alves and Bonucci but completely ignore the fact that Sandro has been an absolute disaster this season.

You're right in that regard, Bentancur and Pjanic should have been more aggresive on the first goal. Benatia's clearence on the second goal, just before Messi got the ball was completely on him though. After Sturaro's clearence, at least 1 midfielder should have been there to recover. The third goal was again on Benatia, as he was not aggressive enough and was giving Messi literally a couple of yards around the box, which is suicide.
It's just that the guys we let go were actually able to hold on their own and now the collective defense seems to be failling, something i have not seen for a long time. And then A.Sandro has been subpar this season, which makes things even worse. In previous years our complete backline consisted of world-class defenders who were a strong collective, today, we have 1 left in A. Sandro (once he reaches his level again, and 2 if Chiellini is fit). We shifted focus on our attack, but im still having my doubts whether that is justified.

We should be playing Rugani more. Caldara better be worth the buy and 2 year wait.
