This Supercoppa final will probably remain the closest we will get to having a chance in challenging for a trophy in the foreseeable future, that if we are lucky ofc, because the projected level and potential of this squad for at least the next couple of years would be to challenge for a 3rd/4th place, which is likely the best case scenario for this season aswell.
Losing a game in this manner managed to once again waste any momentum or confidence that we had gathered in the comback vs Roma….
Allegri has his fair share of blame for how this season has gone so far, not pointing the finger at all at him for how the supercoppa game went as it was surprising enough to even get that late in it given the weak starting line-up that we had, but as things stand atm he does not seem able to bring more out of this players, it’s always ‘almost enough’ however it rarely ends well for us , but nonetheless that is also because there’s only so much you can squeeze out of mediocrity and an injury prone starting material part of the squad… things are clearly not going well so far but he had earned himself the benefit of the doubt given the circumstances and still has untill the end of the season to stabilize the ship, maybe some low-cost efficient moves in the january mercatto now might change the ecuations a bit in our favor, probably his future will depend a lot on how we will fare in UCL aswell.
