I have been a big supporter throughout the years. But everyone here has seen this season trending in an ominous direction since he got this idea in his head to play Ronaldo-Mario-Dybala.

To play this tactic against Simeone is just unthinkable. To risk so many counters when you have Bonucci as the last man is unthinkable. I honestly did not believe he would play this front line with just a flat 7 behind them against Atletico. I thought it was just a bit of a false front for Simeone to game plan against and we would switch drastically for the CL.

This was his worst tactic yet. It's indefensible. I can't hear a single argument for it. In Simeone's biggest wet dreams, he dreams of our midfield and defence bringing the ball up into their half and losing possession.

Now what can you do to turn this result? Costa has been banished all year. Bernardeschi hasn't been allowed to play with other attackers ahead of him. Spinazzola has never played. What do you do now? Pray that Khedira is back in time or something?

You spent all year playing the same static tactic. 3 lines of play. How can you adapt in time now when you had tons of time to experiment?

Listen to this man.

tbh i have to blame him for something i guess was so clear. in the 2nd half when they did changes they had a lot of spaces in midfield and i guess it would have been smart bringing Cancelo or Berna in exchange of Mario who was completely shut down and play with more midfielders but he didn't and he brought can. this was a huge tactical mistake not just being late.

I think Can was brought in because Pjanic was not fully fit. He had flu symptoms before the match.

He cant get the best out of offensive players. Could have been 3 or 4 nill. Time to get back to what he is comfortable with to try to save the result. Going 4-3-3 again will expose his weakness once more.

We need a manager that can get the most out of world class offensive talent. Enough of this Mourinho style BS.

Agreed. The 433 is crap doesn't work with our players and it's obvious.

then bring two. i mean this guy simeone he did all his changes in very short time. this is CL its not the league. he should have done better in this period of changes. if we scored it could have killed the match because else we had moments of going up and have spaces.

I just don’t see us scoring 3 goals against Atletico without reply. Their defence and midfield completely shut down our attack today. Oblak is also a beast.

Call me a pessimist but I just don’t see it happening.

This! Really.

In previous seasons he played two or three formations before settling to one in March. He has been playing this utter rubbish continuously bar the odd occasion where we saw something interesting only to go back to this. When we were shouting that we need change we were laughed at but now when we desperately need a change, a formation that can change shape and approach when things aren't going your way, will he be able to do it? I am afraid there is not enough time. He used to drill these back in the autumn and early winter.
