In theory, to sell your 3rd best Centre back, bring in a massive downgrade in Caceres, and not use that money towards bringing in a much needed MF is insane. If this is just a cash grab, this a major disappointment

while I do agree Benatia is our 3rd best CB, something broke between him and coach, we will move the player 10/10 times in these circumstances. He does not play for one reason or another, and there is a good chance caceres will not play whole lot, so our performance should not drop in quality

All I am saying is that if that money from the sale of Benatia is not used to bring Ramsey in now, then this doesn't make much sense.

Clearly an emergency signing, not sure he can be any better than Barzagli at this point. I'd be surprised if he got 2 games for the rest of the season.

He should then undergo a medical before signing a contract until the end of the season.
The Uruguayan played for the Old Lady during the 2009-10 campaign, before returning two years later and winning four Scudetti.
However, competition and injuries prevented the 31-year-old from becoming a first-team regular and he has gone on to play for Southampton, Verona and Lazio.
As well as being an experienced head, Caceres is also a low-cost option, given he is not an Aquile regular and has an expiring contract.
Talk of his return comes after it emerged Medhi Benatia was ready to join Qatari side Al-Duhail.

So if Paratici pulls this off is it a great move because we traded an unused benatia (for an admittedly lesser yet more versatile player) and used the funds to sign Ramrod or is it a chump move cause benatia wanted out, he caved and ramrod is not SMS?
