Mixed feelings. Absolutely loved some of his contributions, but others weren't so great. He was one of the players who missed a penalty in Manchester as well, when Buffon did his very best to bring the cup home to Turin.. with his two glorious saves.. 
But overall? Do I think Zalayeta has proved himself as a Juventino? I say yes.

The thing that really annoys me is that how everyone keeps on saying that he doesn't complain for sitting on the bench. Its not like he's a superstar or have any impact on the team. He is supposed to be a backup player, and nothing more. I bet even Zalayeta himself would say that he does not deserve to start in Juve (if he's an honest person). Name me one backup player from the top teams that you think is worse than Zalayeta. With the limited skills (skill and Zalayeta in the same sentence even feels wrong) that he has to offer, getting paid nearly 1 million euros more or less per year, I just don't see why he wouldn't be happy to continue sitting on the bench untill he retires.
And then you see people over here saying how 'loyal', 'faithful', and a 'true Juventino' he is....Give me a fuckin break.

The mysterious thing about Zalayeta is that no-one is entirely sure about how much we actually paid for him all those years ago. I remember some thread that discussed this a year or two ago.
That centered around his worth to the squad and the likely fee he would raise if he were to be transferred away from Juve. Estimates ranged from £5m to £10m as to the transfer toJuve.
At that time memories were fairly freshabout the 2004-2005 season and the contribution he made.

The key question is this. Is he a financial liability to the club, assuming he is on high wage?
Does he have any future at the club? The answer, sadly for Zala, is almost certainly no, given DD's preference of playing Palladino ahead of him.
The time has come to put feelers out for offers. He deserves more regular first team football. I suspect that there would be a number of Spanish and English clubs willing to shell out a realistic amount for his services, assuming he still has contract time left.

now in my eyes zalayeta was a hero for his important goals, however a man his age, on his wages should ahve made a bigger impact on the club stage by this stage of his career.

You always need squad players who can come in and do a good job. In my honest opinion, I think Zalayeta has done exactly that. And he has done it without one single complaint. Even in the summer, after our demotion, he said: "I will sit on the bench for Juve, even in Serie B".
This man has my respect.
