Good post, but I think the squad is overrated. Some of these players aren't worth half of what they're made out to be. We should probably still challenge for the CL though.

The 4-2-3-1 of last season should have been kept and built upon. Credit to Ciro for using it, but a whole chorus of boos for throwing it away despite the success in using it.

DN's flawed views of what a winger should do is not something contained to him. Lots of Italian managers want wingers who are solid defensively. And because of this disease, I don't want an Italian coach anymore. The ideas are too outdated and we're paying for it.
When I say this squad should make it to the Champions League I mean that it should be getting third or fourth (the Milan clubs are better). I don't really think I'm overrating it to be honest, I was never demanding a Scudetto even when Juventus was flying high (that win against Lazio).

Yes, I specifically praised Ciro for the 4-2-3-1 against Sampdoria and not the odd change of heart for bizarre reasons. It was obvious that the fullbacks couldn't provide the width on that team. I agree that it should have been built upon as well, Krasic replacing Camoranesi wouldn't have ruffled up the squad too much.

And you're right about Italy and width. The country really hasn't produced enough wingers actually, I don't know what that is down to, but I'd like something with more flair. The way Deschamps used his wingers in the CL match a couple of days ago is what I'm thinking of. As boring as that match was.

I think Del Neri actually thought that beating Inter meant that everything was perfect and rosy. Does he not realise that before beating Inter we had only won 3 games out of 10 in 2011?? We were getting our asses handed to us on a regular basis and this guy is thinking that we were suddenly extraordinary. I dont think he quite understands Juventus, and how motivated we are for the derby d'italia. The desire to beat inter, and not his tactical or man management genius made us beat Inter. Delneri's only contribution to us this season has been all 7 of the losses we have!

I agree with the fact that this team on paper is better than Lazio, Napoli, Roma, Udinese and Palermo and should be able to take the third spot easily.

So now, after the match, Del Neri is complaining that Iaquinta wasn't fully fit... so why the fuck did you start him?

Frankly this shit is ridiculous. Just before kickoff when the lineup was announced there were already complaints about Iaquinta, Martinez, and Grygera from members here. And which three players does DN end up having to replace? How can a majority of this forum forsee it but not the fucking coach?

Gigi Del Neri admits “consistency is not in our DNA, but it’s going to be a season of desperate disappointment if we carry on like this.”
Juventus beat Inter in the Derby d’Italia, but followed up that amazing result with back-to-back 2-0 defeats against strugglers Lecce and Bologna.

“Consistency is not in our DNA,” confessed the Coach. “Every time we concede, it’s when we lose our concentration.

“It’s impossible that a side like Juventus, after a victory over Inter, can throw everything away within two weeks.

“This is going to be a very difficult season of desperate disappointment if we carry on like this.

“I simply cannot believe that I lost the entire squad in the space of 15 days, although clearly there is much to be improved. It’s a shame for the fans, as they deserve something different.”

There was a reshuffled midfield, as Alberto Aquilani and Momo Sissoko were out of action.

“We did miss Aquilani, but the basic problem is that every player has to help his teammates,” continued an agitated Del Neri.

“Right now we are lacking the cool head to play like that. Vincenzo Iaquinta had fitness problems, so I tried to introduce more quality with Alessandro Del Piero at half-time.

“The team conceded when it was playing very tight. In these games we need more intensity. It seemed as if the win against Inter resolved all our problems, but instead we haven’t yet recovered from the defeat to Lecce.”
