He's coming for free, decent wages, CL experience, to a position which is not a priority.

Next year we can go hunt a truly great CB. Right now it's good as it is... freed up for LWB and TOP CF!!!

Very good transfer, any defender looking to come was always down in the pecking order after Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli.

We've managed to sign a player who not only has experience at the highest levels but also who is a leader on and off the field.

Granted he's not great anymore but for what we require, he's one of the best we could get and to not pay a penny for him is a shrewd move from Marotta.

We would've had to pay the same wages for Bruno Alves as well plus the transfer fee..

So in that sense ,considering we have bought him as a backup/rotation option ,this is a better transfer than Alves in every sense of the word.Good Job Marotta.

Making perfectly good sense. But I didnt want Alves either in the first place, bacause these players make a lot of money. I think Lucio will get too much. Anyway.. Im pleased its a free transfer afterall. Oh.. and by the way, as I recall, Lucio is not Italian.. as someone said our new CB will be!!
