I'd have liked to see Moggi working in the same environment Beppe is, where the league is in a total different shape, much more limited funds and less power.

Of course, teams were better back then though.

It's an interesting theory, but we will never be able to compare the two. Moggi came into a vastly different situation, with world class players in their prime and young phenoms coming through (Baggio and Alex, respectively) and he was able to maintain consistency throughout his tenure, which can be equally challenging as rebuildng a squad from the ashes, which is basically what Marotta had to do

With amount of money he paid for Matri and Pepe, Moggi got Trezeguet and Camoranesi. In pre-calciopoli era, we would have been a mockery with him instead of Moggi. Serie A is a desert right now and Marotta is the cactus. Just because he is adapted to survive in that environment, that doesn't mean he is something special. In fact he is disturbingly mediocre.

Pepe, Martinez, Matri, Elia, Krasic, Bendtner

He is neither best nor worst. Exactly what i said, mediocre.
Gladstone, Kapo, Zalayeta, Blasi, Giannichedda, Zebina, Olivera.

Consider how much they cost and how much the market has inflated since then, to put it into perspective.

Look at the difference in the players we're signing now and the ones we signed when Calciopoli was fresh and our reputation was at its lowest point and we had no money.

difference is though firstly most of those players cost us next to nothing, secondly they were brought in as squad players, the ones Turk listed were mostly deemed as players who were expected to be in the first time

We had money but spent on wrong players(Almiron instead of Hamsik, Tiago+Andrade for 23m etc). Thankfully, those who proved to be useful came for free or cheap, so we have managed to rebuild.

What Zalayeta, Blasi and Giannichedda cost would be the equivalent of more than 10 million now.

Anyway, Moggi didn't have to build a winning squad from crap. He had a quality team, a lot of money, and the name Juventus (in the strongest league).Marotta had a much harder job.
