Good young talent. Ranieri liked him when he coached Parma but we already have young players like him. Dessena who's a bit stronger than the kids we have at midfield would be a better fit IMO and scores a bit more than them but is not really a priority.

In connexion with the proposed January scambio**, here's a little information on the player that looks like joing us.

Luca Cigarini (born 20 June 1986 in Montecchio, Province of Reggio Emilia) is an Italian football (soccer) player. He is a playmaker who likes to orchestrate the play from just in front of the defence. Technically assured, he is comfortable with both feet and possesses a lethal shot from distance. His style of play is often compared to that of Andrea Pirlo.

He plays midfielder role for Parma F.C. in Serie A and Italian U21s.

He is one of the youngest notable youth product in current Parma squad, alongside Daniele Dessena and Daniele Paponi.

He signed a new five year contract with Parma in summer 2007.

On September 7, 2007, Cigarini scored his first ever goal (which was also the winning goal) with the Italy U-21 squad in a 2-1 victory over the Faroe Islands in a UEFA U-21 Qualifying match.

i just saw him a couple of times, he certainly has some skills but he striked me as a selfish player sometimes. Haven't seen much of him or parma lately but he could be molded into a better player

I just saw some of this videos on Youtube. That's nothing to go by ofcourse, but his passing seems to be pretty good. And he doesnt seem to break too much sweat..he has his effortless elegance. If he really is as good as he's supposed to be,then i think Pirlo's heir has been found.

How did he strike you as a selfish player? I have watched most of Parma's game this season and I have to say I disagree. He is the creative force behind the Parma midfield and is known for his passing abilities. He is far from selfish. He definitely could be molded into a better player but what young player cannot.

The fact is this. He is the sort of player we need right now. More so than Almiron.

Cigarelli will offer better support to Iaquinta, Trez, Gio (in due course) and Del Piero, and will be a good partner with VdV or Hamsik to have.

Juventus And Parma Set To Exchange Players

According to Italian sports daily Tuttosport, Juventus are interested in the services of Luca Cigarini from Parma, and to do so they are ready to let new signing Almiron leave.
Juventus And Parma Set To Exchange Players

Following the disappointing season both Tiago and Almiron have had, the Bianconeri are searching for a new midfield player who can offer good cover until the end of the season.

The Turin giants have found this player in Parma's young midfielder Cigarini, who has been impressing with his club this season.

However, president Tommaso Ghirardi does not want cash for his star players, but other quality players in order to remain competitive.

For this reason, Juventus are ready to offer Almiron in exchange for Cigarini.

This move would also offer the Argentine midfielder the possibility to re-discover himself in a more serene environment, considering that he was seen as one of the best midfielders in Serie A last season.

No negotiations have been set up yet, but a meeting between the two clubs is expected to occur in the first week of January.

Cigarini has been dubbed as the new Pirlo,i mean he plays kinda similar to Pirlo...I dont know though,we've already gotten Ekdal and we have MArchisio and Giovinco who could fill that spot, I would rather have Dessena,at least he could play on the wings...

Haven't seen him perform whatsoever but if he is as good as people are saying than I say why not. We aren't getting our money worth with Almiron so might as well use him to try to get better players.

it was mostly one u-21 game and i think there was a parma game there somewhere, where he was always shooting instead of passing to other players who were in better positions.

I wouldn't mind him, but tbh i would take Marchisio over him anyday

it would be great to have a pirlo-style player in juve. i love the way pirlo plays. if he really is similar to pirlo, then he can play between zanetti/marchisio and nocerino with giovinco in an advanced role. that sounds like a great all-italian midfield. it could look like this:

nocerino---cigarini---zanetti/marchisio
-------------giovinco----------

damn, that kinda reminds me of:

gattuso---pirlo---ambrosini/seedorf
-----------kaka------------

-------------Giovinco-----------

---------Tiago------- Nocerino--------

--------------Cigarini-----------

It seems good to me IF Cigarini is that good
