Henchoz is getting on now. I think he's 32, and it shows in how he plays. Carragher is as good an option for now, but equally a stopgap. They have to invest in a new defender this year.
we do.....to many of the old guard left-they are getting old, and as you said, are not the fastest (to put it kindly) and I really don't think we have enough quality to get 3rd place, and certainly not to win the EPL-we still have lots of catching up to do if we ever want to compete with chelki, arsenal, etc, much less with top European teams. IMO losing Gerrard would be a huge loss-he was always more important than Owen-you can always find a good striker, but to find someone like Gerrard is rare.

I remember speaking to some Arsenal fans after that FA Cup Final; I could almost see the steam coming out of their ears when they were talking about Henchoz's heroics

Man, there must have been six or seven incidents where he changed the course of a match with that over that season, including two cup finals. It was sickening to watch.
it is! and you are right about it taking time to clean up this whole mess. I still think we need lots of new blood, so hopefully there will be more action in January wat Houllier didn't seem to understand is that to be world class, you must have world class players, not just 2 or 3

Dudek isn't bad at all! he was one of the best for a while! now he's getting old, and he ain't what he used to be. but we have Kirkland as well, which is good.
yeah-Diao, and there are so many more! the people he signed were completely second class, and he often paid way too much for them
The papers are suggesting Benitez will go for Mista and Ayala in ?January. That'd be a big boost to the squad, I think, but it sounds like the usual newspaper transfer rumour b.s.
