I think, according to what DD is saying in the french papers, the managers want a coach with no much experience so they can do whatever they want, that is no invest to much and play for middle qualification...
DD has gone beacause he knows this management sucks. And Buffon will leave too-
I have my suspicions about this. I don't think Secco and Gigli can go around and discuss how much money they have to spend, and not spend "a good chunk of it." The media will eat them alive so bad, it'll make this coaching saga look like Calciopoli. You'll see "the fall of the giants" and "incompetent management" and "just kill Juve now and be done with it." In other words, stuff the ownership wouldn't tolerate and stuff that will negatively affect the stock price. Mediocrity is not good for business and everyone knows it.
I think DD is telling the half truth (mostly cause I think he wanted to go to Lyon... while he's a Juventino, he's also a proud Frenchman, and now that he's done his service to Juventus, now he wants to do his service for the French nationals, seeing as the majority of them are Lyon players).
I think the truth is, the management either wants a top notch coach, like Lippi or Mourinho, who can definitively run the show with many years of proven class and achievement, OR they want a rookie who won't argue with them when they make a judgment call. I think Deschamps was somewhere in between... considered by management to be an average stop-gap coach who had to prove himself and he was barking out too many orders for their liking.
I also think DD and Secco have two completely different ideas on what works in Serie A and what doesn't. DD seems to want to bring in half the French team, and old players from Monaco (which very well could have worked). Secco seems to want to bring in proven Serie A workhorses, and maybe a big splash from a foreign league (Lampard?). Seeing how long it took Boumsong to go from a total liability to half-decent, Secco might have a point. Chaps like Saviola, Anelka, Guily, Mavuba and Malouda might take too long to get accustomed to Serie A, while guys like Mesto and Iaquinta know exactly what to expect. We may never know who is right, they may very well both be wrong.
Seeing as Secco is a disciple of Moggi, he probably wants to do a lot of shopping off the Bosman players, something DD might not have considered to be prudent to be champions and considers it to be "not investing much."
I should say, I like DD, but I'm not convinced this is a bad thing. I'm pretty neutral... until we see what the definite fallout is.
PS: I'm not convinced Buffon is leaving. Judging by the coaching options, there aren't many legitimate options there that would force a player out citing lack of competition or unreconciliable differences... except Capello.
