Lots of lossless music.

Stay away from Gentoo, if you simply can't, just install Sabayon. Don't listen to what Martin says. :D
Well, gentoo is sort of like the tallest mountain, the highest tree, the optimal thing. But that's not really important. As long as you're on linux you're already close enough to the peak to live a good life.

Btw I'm thinking of transitioning away from gentoo myself. Desktop wise it hasn't really seen much development in the last 2 years. So doing things like getting your multimedia buttons working, sleep/hibernate, all those little details is quite a pain in gentoo while Ubuntu (and probably Fedora as well) are starting to reach a point where it works out of the box. This stuff probably will be standardized over time, so it won't be a distro-to-distro issue, but that will take a while.

it didnt work in the few distros that i tried which had that...

actually, most distros i;ve tried have a problem with suspend to ram/hibernate... dunno why!
It's because of all kinds of hardware crap. The wonderful thing is that Ubuntu started working on this and Fedora-Mandriva also have an effort where they track hardware information and known problems. Thanks to these efforts a lot more laptops now work. In fact, look:

Code:
$ ls /etc/acpi/resume.d
10-thinkpad-standby-led.sh* 50-time.sh* 69-services.sh*
13-855-resolution-set.sh* 50-tosh-restore-brightness.sh* 72-acpi-pain.sh*
15-video-post.sh* 55-screen.sh* 85-anacron.sh*
17-video-restore.sh* 58-proc-sysfs-restore-state.sh* 90-thinkpad-unstandby-led.sh*
35-modules-load.sh* 60-asus-wireless-led.sh* 90-xscreensaver.sh*
40-infra-red.sh* 62-ifup.sh* 98-acpi-unlock.sh*
49-855-resolution-set.sh* 65-console.sh*
50-framebuffer-enable.sh* 67-sound.sh*
Just for suspend they already have all these model specific settings on ubuntu. The package is acpi-support, which isn't in portage at least, so I guess it's ubuntu specific so far.

You do realize that distrowatch doesn't mean anything, right? :D It doesn't say anything about how many users a distro has, it's just hits on that page. I run Gentoo (and now Ubuntu) but I don't open the Gentoo page every month. :D

It's the un-official distro ranking, I don't care what you have to say.

PCLOS would be the ultimate out-of-the-box distro if it only came with the variety of installed apps as Sabayon. But PCLOS is a lot faster, everything literally works, including flash in Opera, because of that I'm still undecided over the two. But Ubuntu is a no-no.
