I am so much intrigued to arch linux but I am not sure I have the time and energy to install it.
Actually it's not that time consuming. You can probably get it running with a basic GNOME/KDE install in an hour or two(probably even faster depending on your internet connection and CPU)by following the wiki beginner's guide. Their wiki is probably the mother of all wiki's ever.

And if you're really lazy there's even this which automates the whole process. Just make sure you go through the commands the script issues before executing...so you don't get nvidia drivers when you have ATI, or you get GNOME when you want KDE. It's really straightforward and shouldn't be a problem.

What I like about Arch is the fact it's a rolling release, so I don't get a "new version" every six months.

I just connected an old desktop computer that was collecting dust in the storage room. I thought Elias will enjoy spending time discovering it. It is still functioning properly, the first pleasant surprise was that it had OpenSUSE on it. Then it started and found that it has KDE3 on, I had to check out what version and I was happy seeing that in my eyes was the best KDE ever did version 3.5.7

It also has Linux kernel 2.6.22.17

Talking about blast from the past.

Reminds me of a blog post "I introduced my 5-year-old and 2-year-old to startx and xmonad. They’re DELIGHTED!"

That was a great article, really fun. It takes me back to my first PC experience with Dos. Now that I think about it, when those kids saw a window manager for the first time, that's how I felt when I ran norton-commander from Dos for the first time.

I like the approach that guy is taking for his kids.

Did you expect something else from me?
No. :D

Yesterday, I formatted my girlfriend's laptop with Mint. She noticed something was "strange" with it, so I said Windows just updated itself. It will run better from now on. :D

It's good for me, no more fixing the damn thing every week, deleting various toolbars in the browser and what not.

Contemplating installing Linux again. Should I go for Ubuntu or Linux Mint? And if the latter, then should I go for Cinnamon or MATE version?

PS: I want something that just works. My days of coding, tweaking and geeking around are behind me. Much obliged.
