whatever just get it done. bonucci is a likeable guy but seriously tonight and against roma mid week is just unforgiveable, call me old fashioned but $#@!ing hell do i miss the days when real defenders existed, hell Montero despite his liability of getting red cards wasn't half as dumb as bonucci is
Wasn't it his fault that we conceded the 2nd goal against the frozen kebabs? When Drogba beat one of our defenders to the header?

Criticizing Chiellini while praising Bonucci is like criticizing the guy moving all the furniture while praising the guy holding the door.

    every team needs a scapegoat...
It has nothing to do with picking a scapegoat. Bonucci is simply not good enough, he's not a good player and not worth of the starting XI. He's error prone which is shown too often despite of having both Barzagli (who's incredible) and Chiellini next to him. He's not worth of changing formation to 3 man defense just so he could play. Hopefully this summer we convert to 4 man defense and Bonucci takes his place on the bench (it would be much better if we could sell him).

Ogbonna is showing much more potential if we judge by the earliest games because when Bonucci came here he was clueless. Everything is overrated with Leonardo, he has decent long balls but people hail it like it's a Pirlo in defense. We've seen yesterday that Barzagli is also capable of providing accurate long balls if needed. Is he good at marking players? No. Is he good at one on one? No. He's good in the air, I'll give him that. He tends to lose his player way too often. People say he's picking up balls that Chiellini and Barzagli 'lose' but that is not his only job. In almost every game with a stronger opponent he has brain farts. Whenever there's some cataclysm in our defense and when we almost concede it's always like 'oh Bonucci...'. Luckily we dominate every team so our defense doesn't get exposed too much but imo he's without a doubt the weakest link our team. Chiellini has been poor recently, but this position doesn't suit him as much as 4 man defense and yet he's not much worse than Bonucci (hell, last season they were both on pair at least). Try to put Bonucci in 4 man defense and you'll what a disaster of a player he really is.

I'd say Chiellini has been a lot worse than Leo this season. Does he cop the same backlash? Nope.
Thaf? Chiellini has made some errors but at least even when he's at his absolute worst he still makes most of his tackles.

The only time bonucci makes a tackle is when the attacker kicks it straight into him, which at times leads to a deflected goal anyways.

So much bla bla bla and people still keep missing the point and write pointless paragraphs about nothing.

If you want to blame someone, blame Conte for sticking to the 3-5-2.

Bonucci's role is different than that of Chiellini. Bonucci is not there to make tackles like Chiellini, but I don't expect you to understand that.

Bonucci, being a starting CB, should be able to make a tackle when a player gets past his CB's, but he rarely does. He's a damn defender. Look up "defender" at dictonary.com.

In any case, he's played as a RCB a couple of times and been skinned on every occasion. But in all honesty, I don't expect you to understand that.

I actually do. Bonucci's defending is not great, but that's not news, and I'm sure Conte does not play him there for his great defending skills, else he wouldn't have been a starter for the 3rd consecutive season.

We don't have proper players for any other formation.

You think Bonucci is there behind Barzagli and Chiellini to pick up the balls, be a holding defender and pass his way forward with his incredible long passes. You left him be the player with the least responsibility just so you could comfort yourself that he's doing a half decent job. Well guess what, he's not doing a good job. Your boy has too many flaws for a defender and yet after having two players next to him he manages to make a fool of himself very often. A brain... that's something he lacks.

    And whose fault is that?

He's essential to our formation. We don't have many great passers in the team, and when we play Pirlo, he's usually marked all game and that's where Bonucci comes in. If you want to judge him by our last performance with a man less with much less movement in the team, be my guest, but if you're not biased enough, you could see what he offers other than his usual 'defensive liabilities'.
