i remember when there was a time that the standard for judging my coherenceness was a lot lower
you can relax, though. I wasn't picking on you, it's just that with the tons of stories about bad cops, abuse of power and murder I get a little more sensitive when it comes to the entitlement of killing. Then again, not much more than I already was.

No suspension to season

Serie A and Serie B will recommence on the weekend of Saturday November 24 as scheduled.

A meeting called by Italian Football Federation President Giancarlo Abete decided that the cancellation of this weekend’s Serie B and C fixtures was sufficient.

There had been calls from some sources to suspend the season for weeks and even months after the violence caused by the death of Lazio fan Gabriele Sandri.

It has not yet been decided whether some games will be played behind closed doors.

Atalanta are unlikely to be allowed to play in front of their home fans for the foreseeable future after sections of their support smashed the security glass at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia causing the abandonment of the Orobici’s game against Milan last weekend.

Club President Ivan Ruggeri has even suggested that he may give all the tickets away to children in a bid to clean up the Bergamo side's image.

Policeman who fatally shot Lazio fan under investigation for murder

MILAN, Italy - The policeman who shot and killed a Lazio fan last week is being investigated for murder rather than manslaughter, his lawyer said Thursday.

"The magistrate has changed the accusation," stiffening an initial probe for manslaughter to one for suspected murder, lawyer Francesco Molino said.

Gabriele Sandri was shot in the neck Sunday while he was sitting in a car that had stopped at a highway rest area near Arezzo in Tuscany.

Interior Minister Giuliano Amato said earlier this week that the officer had fired the fatal bullet with his arms outstretched from across the highway. Arezzo police had first said that the officer had fired the shot in the air in warning to stop a fight, possibly among rival fans, but later changed that version, saying the gun was fired horizontally.

Reports said police had intervened to stop a scuffle between Sandri's group of Lazio fans - headed to see their club play at Inter Milan - and a group of Juventus fans, also travelling north to see their team play.

Arezzo prosecutor Ennio Di Cicco said Thursday that knives and umbrellas, including a broken one, were found in the rest stop area, and that four occupants in the car Sandri was travelling in were being probed for carrying those objects, which could potentially be used as weapons.

Di Cicco, speaking on Sky TG24, described the shooting as "unforgivable."

The best thing that could have happened with Milan's ailing offensive attack.

It's good that these questions are asked. But seeing as we have with calciopoli, I hope for the officer's sake that this also isn't handed over to the court of public opinion for a verdict.

The Italian and footballing justice systems may need to change their mottos to "Give us Barabbas!" any day now.

maybe if Italian police policy didnt include the use of warning shots, one of their officers wouldnt be in this predicament :disagree:
