Overall I am satisfied with the mercato. At the end of the day, the key upgrade was Tevez. He is the only acquisition that slots straight into the 1st team without doubt. Ogbonna and Llorente are quality subs who have a realistic chance of fighting their way into the starting 11 with good form which is good.

Our starting line-up is likely to be: Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Lichsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah, Tevez, Vucinic. Key subs will always be: Ogbonna, Pogba, and Llorente in games.

Key dissapointment was not getting Zuniga in the end. He would have been an excellent player to have as he would have been fighting for a 1st team place with Asamoah and also be a quality option for RWB if Lichsteiner needs a rest etc. But you can't win them all.

Longer term goals would be to get an upgrade on Vucinic and Asamoah and look for either an heir for Pirlo or devising a system that works well without him.

Well done Marotta - 8/10 for me.

You'd spend 20 million on a player that would ultimately be at the back end of a rotation?
Youre wrong. This is the last season we'll play 352 since Pirlo is gone by July 1st 2014. Signing Nianggolan now would be ideal as he'll only raise in value season by season. It's a class player and he would fit in perfectly. Especially when we'll go 4231/4141/433

marrotta has to realize we need a cm, he has to make a move, idc who, just a average mid to fill in a spot. Shouldve kept marrone or rossi
we don't have any good options at this time, now that 9golan is staying... Our depth in CM sucks, we might give asamoah a shot if something happens and play Peluso/De Ceglie on left.. It's the only logical thing to do..

51 combined, to be exact.

Of course, if you add their actual minutes on the pitch, you end up with about 27 games for the two players combined. Take away the Coppa games, and you obviously have even less.

So whoever arrives as an additional CM, you're looking at about 10-15 full games, 3-4 of which in the Coppa. And that's assuming that Pogba will not get more regular playing time than last season. Which he most likely will.

Don't forget that Isla, Asamoah and even Pepe are capable as makeshift central mids. Asamoah and Isla played there many times for Udinese. Peluso wasn't terrible as a LWB as long as it was in the odd game here and there - and don't forget Pepe can play as a wing back on either side. Honestly though, if Asamoah is not available, I would be tempted to go with a back 4 and have Ogbonna as a left back and go 433 with Pepe-Tevez-Vucinic.

So there are plenty of solutions. I don't worry to much about depth. Zuniga would have been good though - would rate that higher than 9golan.
