:agree:

the good:

sold some big contracts for good money
signed coman
signed romulo for a relatively good price

the bad:

overpaid massively for morata & pereyra
failed to move isla, dc, and motta permanently
failed to sign any of the main targets
the vidal saga

i dont think all this falls on marotta's shoulders, as i believe he was given very little cash to play with

But the better bench we have this year can allow us to rest our key players more often during the season with hopes they up their performance in the CL. Isn't that the point of a strong bench?
Yeah and that's fine. But if we had this mercato last year instead of the one we had we'd still have 2 useless strikers up front.

We put down the foundation in the starting XI last season, with the bench being bulked up this season. One wouldn't work well without the other.

Easy there. How much less could we have gotten Morata and Pereyra for ? You are basically saying Morata should cost less then Matri.

You cant move proven shit. And i'm certain we kept isla to keep vidal

There were no real main targets and we never worked like that. We signed morata and pereyra pretty quickly, went full for coman and then barely did anything.

'going for their main target, was man utd trying to get vidal, and we managed to win that war'

Lastly i need to ask, what did marotta had to do with the vidal saga ? Man utd kept persisting, and so did the press in england and chile
-vidal cost less than matri

-we actually loaned isla, and vidal is still here

-we didnt win any war, marotta was simply trying to protect his ass with his media outings, because this board would sell vidal if we got the 50 mil offer

finally and this is very important, enough of the peasant stuff

We didn't need Pereyra though. Give us our 17m back that we wasted on him and if he disappeared tomorrow nobody would give a shit. Dat dere important role as the 6th choice in midfield.

Or, something like this:

Marotta: hi udinese got players?
Udinese: yes, pereyra. 17m.
Marotta: no thanks. bye

The italian transfers deadlineday is hilerious compared to england. Falcao to man utd. Zaccardo stops biabany transfer to milan. Italy is so poor

Agreed. So it seems to me the mercato was still planned and executed rather well. The starting 11 wasn't necessarily weakened by sales, and our Bench was strengthened for support over the long haul, however, Coman could do a pogba and slot in immediately and make us better. Evra as well if we use a back 4 so technically, we won't know immediately if the starting 11 has been improved because we might see some surprises from the bench.

a 50-60m bid for Vidal could have gone a long way for us, but if that were to happened it needed to be immediately in the beginning of the window so we had time to invest accordingly.

Pereyra is not the "6th choise cm". He's a player that has been the best in the trequartista role when we used such position in the preseason, and becomes the first name on the sheet if we play wingers.

Calling him the "6th cm" is not very intelligent
