in what way did Juve take steps forward? and please don't use the "but we kept our assets" excuse because that only means we stood still. lazio took a step back the moment they hired pioli, roma still have an impressive team, bought in good players to still mount a serious challenge for the title
Look at the first team, wich is bench+starters

We kept our assets, and significantly improved the bench. Furthermore, the youth we now have, can easely push certain starters out of the team or call for a change in formation if they explode.

Roma signed some crap, and sold their best player. Thats taking a step back.

Yeah I agree with Napoli. They went completely lateral. Benitez needs to stop trying to build the Spanish 'B' team. Roma I think is a mixed bag. If either Astori, MBiwa or Manolas can adequately fill the void left by Benatia. They still have Castan. If none can, they're undoubtedly worse. If one performs to expectations, I think they'll be better. their midfielder is insane and the attack is good. They've added cole and iturbe plus some depth. Ucan may also really surprise.

But I agree, it comes down to Benatia. He looked like the best central defender in serie a last year. The question is how much is due to Rudy Garcia, Castan and the system, and how much is just How amazing he is...

In conclusion though: I hate Benitez Napoli. He's completely sacrificed defensive ability and the Italian talent to build a fringe Ucl/Europa league caliber La Liga team. He is essentially built the fourth seed to la Liga. One that can't defend.

What if Pereyra gets injured?
Isn't Coman a natural Attaching midfielder? Also, Marchisio and Pogba can play there.

Wait, that's not a sarcastic question, is it?

Anyway... Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio, Vidal, Asamoah, Pereyra, Padoin and possibly Coman. Enough midfielders.

My question was obviously sarcastic. I also agree with you on Pereyra being unnecessary, Morata being a big gamble, Romulo meh, Evra ok-ish and Coman being the only interesting addition.

I haven't seen this Rabiot guy play before, but we certainly DO NOT need another midfielder.
Nah that's not the way to look at it. You never know what will happen to Vidal and Pogba. We might lose one of them or even both next summer. When a club like Bayern loses a player like Kroos you can be sure of a fact it could happen to Juve too. Just try to imagine Raiola will reject any contract offers from Juve and we'll have to sell him as soon as next year.

Defensive minded central midfielders : Marchisio, Sturaro, Rabiot?
Central midfielders : Vidal, Pogba, Pirlo
Offensive central midfielders : Coman, Pereyra, technically Romulo
Wing midfielders : Pereyra, Pepe, technically Coman

As you can see, for the Pure cm, considering the age of Pirlo, there depth will fade.

Vidal and Pogba will start, but we need a defensive minded cm. With Marchisio, Rabiot and Sturaro, we'd have depth at the cdm, but also the cm.

Hey Jack, don't put words into my mouth. I've never said those things :claire: In fact, Marota, Evra and Coman are clearly good signings. Pereyra and Romulo are somehow vague to me.

It'd be for next season.

Do you agree in gambling on a player sometimes? Is Morata too big of a gamble? What would be an ideal type of gamble on a player for you?
