No major trouble for Spain's creme de la creme on Saturday night: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruna all won against lowly opposition.

Real Madrid extended their winning spree with another comprehensive success over puny Osasuna. Javier Aguirre's men were no match for classy Real, who won the match 4-1.

Ivan Helguera picked up a double, while Raul and Guti each scored one. Osasuna limited the damage thanks to a Damian Rivero penalty.

Real were without their French duo Claude Makelele and Zinedine Zidane . Ronaldo was also missing but his debut has been confirmed for Wednesday's CL match with RC Genk.

FC Barcelona won their third match in a row between the Liga and the Champions League as they saw off arch-rivals Espanyol in the Camp Nou.

Patrick Kluivert finally broke his duck in the second half, while Luis Enrique conforted his good spell of form with another important goal.

Barcelona are momentarily top of the table with seven points out of nine.

As for Depor, Juan Carlos Valeron played another inspired match until a rash tackled forced him to limp it off. Roy Makaay scored his team's both goals against Valladolid to take his tally for the week to five.

    INJURY WOE FOR VALERON
DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA have been dealt a crushing blow after tests revealed Juan Carlos Valeron suffered a broken ankle on Saturday.

The Spanish international was the victim of a nasty tackle from Valladolid`s Bolivian defender Pena, and was forced to leave the field.

Depor club doctor, Cesar Cobian, confirmed that their inspirational creative force will be out for around eight weeks after suffering a fractured ankle.

It is a huge blow for the Galicians after Valeron's impressive start to the new season.

Coach Javier Irureta will now have to find another creative force at the Riazor, with Djalminha out of the equation following his loan move to Austria Vienna.

Irureta was one of the most critical of Pena`s tackle, as he said: "Pena`s foul upset a lot of our players and some of them looked for things other than the ball."
