Re transfers incl. HUNTELAAR...

Fenin, 20 year old, has signed for Frankfurt at 4m., he had agreed terms with Juve that would have sent him on loan to Empoli. The player refused.

Huntelaar 23 or Amauri 27 both rated at 25m, the same as Van Der Vaart. Huntelaar is younger but Amauri knows Serie A. At equal cost Juve will go with Huntelaar.
Defence Barzagli and Zapata and in midfield Sissoko and Cigarini.

Boumsong off to Besiktas.
It's the other way around. And the Hunter is rated at about 10m less.

Why is Amauri so hugely underrated here..I havent seen much of Huntelaar to judge..but Amauri is a really good player..almost the complete striker...he's strong physically, is good in the air, is a decent finisher and has bags of pace.

Because half the fans on this forum have never seen him play, they just go with the forums favorite.. ie Huntelaar..

How many here as honestly seen Ivanovic play but he currently lead the poll in our New CB In Jan Thread!!

Amauri is good, but he isnt worth 25m.Plus he's 27..he's been a late bloomer. With Huntelaar you get youth, which kinda justifies spending big bucks on him.Huntelaar can get better, while Amauri has probably reached his peak.

25M is definitely too much..and i agree Amauri is at his peak now..but people here are saying that he's not that good..not that he wont be value for money..
well all we've seen from the hunter is on youtube. And let me say it was class
I think Ruben Olivera can look good on Youtube.

But people have seen Barzagli. And ive said this a million times,he doesnt deserve the shit he gets around here. He's a pretty decent defender. Not world class perhaps, but definatley good.
And I agree with that... Im just saying when it was mentioned about a WC CB being signed certain members here said Barzagli was the next Canna or Nesta which he is definitly not!!

I like Barzagli just as much as the next guy but if hes available for transfer and we let him pass us by, I wont loose any sleep over it!!

Now when Canna went to Inter and Nesta went to Milan I nearly cried...

But 'Praise The Lord' we somehow got Canna and then we won 2 Scudettos!!

But people have seen Barzagli.
That's why some of us don't rate him high, Salman. Because we've seen him.

I didn't know a lot about this guy before i saw him at the world cup. People started praising him, the papers wrote a lot about his transfer to Juve and we were all excited because we thought we'll get the next big thing Italian school of defense produced.

That's why i started following him whenever i had a chance, and every single time, without an exception, he's been awful and badly owned whenever i watched him.
Ok, i watched him mostly when Palermo played against the bigger teams from Italy and when he's been against the best attackers in the country, but that's no excuse for his pathetic displays because if we buy him we'll need him to perform well exactly against these top attackers.

He has been outmuscled, outjumped, completely outplayed in the matches i've seen him.

I tried to find some of these moments :

Against Inter last year ( owned by Cruz and again out of position for the second goal. Too bad we don't have a chance to see full match because that was one of the worst performances of a defender i've seen) :

Against Milan this year (he's the last guy, guarding Gilardino and then running after Seedorf)

Against us this year :
For the first goal he runs after Legro, then he stops and he guards no-one after that, making it easier for Trez to score.
For the second goal he's completely owned by Iaquinta
Till the end of the match our attackers have been cleaning the pitch with him.

I've watched few more matches and he was plain awful on all of these matches.

Maybe i cought only the matches where he's been bad while i've missed his good matches.....but what are the chances for that ?

I wont argue with the videos you've posted, but you need to keep in mind that Barzagli holds his own in the Palermo defence line.Their defence is utter shit, and he gets exposed way too often there. You cant expect a defender to marshall a defence on his own all the time.He does work well in good back 4's however. He's been pretty solid for Italy in the qualifiers, which included matches against France.Barzagli is definatley not as good as he's hyped up to be on these forums, which probably why people who dont like him end up criticizing him more than needed. But i dont buy the notion that he's utter shit either.

great post Alen, i have not seen Barzagli too often but again each time he hasn't impressed me.

his defending against Juve and Inter is just terrible.

but in the milan one isnt entirely his fault, yes he should try to get in front of Gilardino before he recieves the pass, but Seedorf's run isnt really his fault, whoever is marking him should track his run.

IMO if he is as good as he is made out to be, why hasnt a big side signed him already and why have juve stalled over him for so many seasons?we shouldnt just settle for him, if we aren't convinced with him

Whenever i watched him he's been very bad, but i'm aware that he can't be a bad defender because if he was bad neither Lippi neither Donadoni would have been calling him to play for the azzuri. Just like i'm aware that being called to play for azzuri doesn't mean he's world class but it means that Italians had/have only 3 world class defenders while all the other CB's posses either similar either lower quality than Barzagli.

The bolded part of your post is what scares me. Our back 4 is not good. If i was an Inter fan i wouldn't mind Moratti signing him because with Maicon, Materazzi/Samuel/Cordoba and Chivu he won't have all the presure on his sholders and he can play more calmly.
But in our defense he's expected to be the leader and he's expected to replace Legro/Andrade, the ones who offer the experience. He's expected to cover for the mistakes Zebina and Molinaro make.
My fears are that he isn't capable of doing this and i'm really not sure if Barzagli is an improvement over this year's Legrottaglie.

Ok this is how Hunter is going to join Juve:

Italy will meet with Holland in EURO2008, Jan will score 1-2 goals against Buffon, and the same story that happened with Trez and Ibra will repeat itself :p
