Seriously, Del Piero is a much more unique payer than Inzaghi is. Del Piero is a support forward who produces assists and goals. He also can come from deep in midfield or out on the wings and that is a dimension that Italy's other strikers lack. Inzaghi could easily be replaced by Montella, Di Vaio, or Cassano. Maybe Del Piero hasn't performed well for Gli Azzuri, but he's not as replaceable as Inzaghi, so until someone comes along who can replace him, y'all are stuck with him.

I'd say that Vieri, Del Piero, and Corradi are indespensible, because Vieir is their best player, and Del Piero is the only support striker. Corradi has to be there because he's the only one who can replace Vieiri, so I think that you have to choose between DV and Pippo. They aren't so very different, so it'd foolish to take both, and a bit too many stikers considering the formation...
How does Del Piero deserve a starting position on this team after he has been one disappointment after another AND NEVER delivered in a big game? How can one say with certainty besides being totally biased that he should be there bar none. More importantly, no other player has been given this many chances as Del Piero and failed to come through. Put him on the bench and let him play and maybe score like he has done as of lately.

DUDE In International Competition DEL PIERO is a BUST...98...2000....2002....if any other player performed like that they would have never been a starter. Please don't look pitiful and pinpoint his one goal which we would have passed anyhow. When is it ENOUGH of giving him a chance? Ride the bench!
