To be fair to Bentancur he has barely played this season and the role he is playing is a lot about finding a rhythm in moving the ball. It's a hard job to just drop in and do if you are rusty.

I think it is fine to play Bentancur there but Sarri needs to realise he is not a like for like with Pjanic and doesn't have the same vision but he should add more defensive stability.

If we play Bentancur in that role, we need someone more creative than Matuidi next to him.

It doesn't matter. A player is allowed to do that. Defender should be smart and pace himself. Dybala got a penalty in our match against Milan last season in a similar fashion.

Matuidi, to be fair did make a run into the Verona box and gave himself a chance to score but his ability to stay on his feet. Ronaldo, to his credit has made runs but getting the ball to him has been achingly difficult.
