You say Tiago does everything well. I think he does everything. I choose to leave out the well because he does everything to a degree but only few things to a really high standard. Being so well-rounded is what makes him a good solid midfield player but he doesn't tackle as well as Zanetti or Nocerino or pass as well as Almiron so in the end what's the point of being able to do everything decently when imo we need a specialist. Tiago was great at Lyon because he had Diarra, someone great at the defending aspect of a midfielder, and Juninho, someone great at the attacking aspect of a midfielder, playing next to him.
But you fail to see the whole point of a player like Tiago. He's job at Lyon was to be that player in between Diarra and Juninho who gets the ball to the people who need it, such as the Brazilian, and to make all the passes than needed to be made. You're correct in saying he doesn't have the passing ability of Almiron or the defensive capability of Mahmadou Diarra, but what Tiago does do for teams is be the reliable two-way midfielder who rarely makes mistakes offensively and defensively, being the player who works hard and does everything well to a certain extent.

You may not agree with all that and you may not agree that in my opinion all clubs need a player such as Tiago.

As for that thing about respect, cheaters don't really deserve it which is why I stand by Cannavaro.
The fans didn't cheat, dude. Cannavaro lied to the fans... that's what you don't really care about.

Hi guys ...
i just came back from newcastle ten minutes ago . i decided yesterday not to write or read the match opinions since there were allot of issues with the way the team was playing.

i will try to be as objective as i can.

First. i was really impressed by the new players, all of them performed well. marcheonni also showed why moggi signed him.

Second. reneiri....... the way he is trying to play is not suitable with the squad in the pich. as tiago showed allot of defense and offense qualities he certainly cant do both (no one can). Newcastle succeeded in their counter attacks because tiago was far up front along with zibena.
another tactic i didn't really like is pushing the wings forward rather than the attackers. what i mean is when Newcastle attack trez and iaquenta go back to defend while neddy and marco stay upfront to hold the defense.

the defense started badly but by the end of the firs thalf they found their harmony.

midfield was very good but i would have played zanetti instead of almiron. thats not too defensive because i see that tiago has a great quality to be a playmaker.

the attack was bad. all english people i met were waiting to see trez shine but they were disappointed. IMO ranieri and DD are trying to make trez more than a 'fox in a box' by forcing him to pull back. thisresulted in him not performing as well as he should. palladino showed allot of quality and heart as he fought for the ball as if it was an official CL match.

Pros of what i saw: i saw great potential from the new players and the youngsters. also i got to sit in the first raw five seats from del piero

Cons: i really expected more change in terms of tactics. the team play fairly similar to last three years juve. i didn't blame DD since he was limited in the squad but ranieri have allot of choices fir the formation. I'm starting to think that we should loose the 442 to 352

no i will go back and read all of your comments ;)

remember it is a friendly match and allot of errors are expected with the over haul we had. its okey as long as they fix it before the season starts.

just the drunk ones. but i made some friends their

it was annoying when some of them came back to the bus area and started singing about neddy having along hair and its like a woman.

it was so stupid i could not even respond.
:disagree: poocastle would kill for a player like nedved in their squad, no1 insults neddy! :faq2: that alone is enough to get me all rowdy

think about it.. they are not worth it. they worship the likes of martines (really) who is considered a joke to us juve fans.

even after they said that i saw the same people trying to get his autograph :)

they didnt insult anybody but themselves. i learned one thing though, if you want to piss off a newcastle fan just say that sunderland is a better team.

one of the told me that it is against his religion to mention their name. he meant sunderland.

sad

by the way blasi was training with the team.. i totally forgot about him

Really annoying to see how some dramatize the entire situation. Heck chelsea lost to rangers in a friendly? also 2:0 does that mean they aint gona challenge in epl and CL? Valencia lost to PSG 3:0.

And dont now come with excuses talks, calm down, it was first time this new team actually played together in a competive match. The real thing starts in autumn, now IS the time to test.

I'm watching the match for the second time, and I can't stop laughing at some of these comical missed shots by Iaquinta. What the hell was he doing? He totally blasted two shots comically over the goal and had a breakaway after a good move only to dribble right into Given. And the worst thing about it was that on two occasions all he had to do was slide the ball across the goal and we would have scored. Sheesh that was a comical first 15 minutes.

Almiron is a great player.

No offense mate but you were deeply upset by this defeat and you described what you think is a big problem with Juventus after the 1st "friendly" match in this season.

I am sure that this defeat has made many Juventus fans frightened and afraid that this season may go wrong and are already looking who to blame. Let us see how things will go after next 2-3 matches to draw real conclusions.

I must say that I am not a fan of 4-3-3. I don´t think this offensive formation could work for Juventus. They never played like that. I think Ranieri has to deploy more compact and balanced formation.

I would like to see Juventus playing more attractive football but not at the expense of final result. Let´s say, I am amazed how Milan plays and wins. Their displays are always convincing.
Yea, its not like our back four are that great. Even with the new players, it will take some time to gel.
