Let's not forget the EPL is the most popular football league in the world. Of course people are going to be more knowledgeable about it.

Did you see Petr Cech in the Champions League last season? You're saying Chelsea fans are ignorant about other Footballing cultures but you fail to see what Petr Cech has done for us. He's a strong link in this Chelsea team. Maybe our defence is just making him look bad?

To be honest mate, fans aside. Every pundit has limited or zero knowledge on Italian football in the UK. Bar James Richardson, the rest of them are clowns. Look how the BBC and ITV only seemed to discover Pirlo in the last Euro competition. When he's been one of and still is one of the greatest midfielder's of his generation.

Cech is subject to some real howlers now and then. You have much stronger players in other positions. But then the keeping quality in the EPL isn't on par with other positions when comparing with other leagues.
Our football is generally faster and more aggressive. Set pieces are taken very seriously and I believe the EPL registers the highest amount of crosses in any of the major leagues.

Of course Goalkeepers are going to be in for a harder time. :D

People have known about Pirlo for a LONG time and I agree with you. He is a true icon worldwide, but to say us brits know nothing is a bit ott. We might not know your starting 11 and bench every game, but we have a good idea of the Football philosophy's, and key players in Serie A. Hell I play with a Serie C2 team in Football Manager (San Marino). Anyway, very much looking forward to the game tomorrow if slightly nervous. I hope Sturridge starts over Torres and I hope Luiz is dropped for this game.

Your danger man I reckon would have to be Vidal. Oscar did a pretty good job on Pirlo last game so I'm hoping for the same ;)

I still stand by my 1-1 prediction.

when i read comments such as

"Well I watched the Juve vs Lazio game. What a pile of crap. Luckily, Vidal doesn't look to be anywhere near the form he was showing last season and Pirlo wasn't even on the bench. More of the same against us please! "

    can you blame us?

especially since Pirlo wasn't on the bench for a good reason, that reason being that he was suspended, ironic that they said the game was a pile of crap, not too sure what to make of chelsea's performance against west brom then

To be honest buddy, I cannot have a Italian football conversation anywhere outside of my family because everyone, certainly in Manchester is so obsessed with La Liga and Premiership(Understandable of course). No knowledge from a public point of view is harsh but I will be cringing tomorrow watching ITV as they will say so many incorrect things and not have any clue about our other players baring Pirlo.

There's no comparison between Cech and Buffon my friend, that is certain :D Baring both being GK that is where the similarities end :p

To be honest, I have gotten most of my knowledge of Italian Football through Football Manager.

I have googled "Buffon Howlers" and there are many many results. Want them? Are you seriously making this a battle between which goalkeeper has made more mistakes? C'mon be reasonable mate.
But these were two major ones just in the past few months.

It's not uncommon for him. Or, as the Euro 2012 talk had it at the time, the Czechs needed to hope he kept his howler count down.

I would agree that Buffon is better. Taking an average side to the World Cup Final and winning was incredible.
When he's on his game. He went a season or so not mentally in it, it seemed.

Cech still has his moments. But to be honest, the best keeper performances in recent years I've seen involved the odd likes of Marchetti or (in the past) Julio Cesar, etc.

He's partly right, though. Deeper pockets and a lack of defensive emphasis in the EPL has made a sort of natural selection in the league for faster players.

A player like Theo Walcott would be pretty useless in a league like Serie A, for example.

Don't judge a fan base by a comment on a forum. All I'm saying.

    Anyway, back OT yes? ;)
I'm sure for someone like myself who supports Juve living in england you might understand that ignorance towards Juve and Italian football in general is quite common, it astounds me how people at the place of work for example talk about how teams like norwich and stoke would rape the Italian league, and it took several years and 1 amazing game against england for english pundits to finally discover Andrea Pirlo and only the other night zlatan ibrahimovic, and when you mention the name Vidal, they think it is the hair dresser Vidal Sassoon ffs :sergio:

Yes, but I just don't like how EPL fans disregard other leagues as sub-par because the game is played differently.
