No, something happened alright, I just don't know what. I mean it comes as no surprise that Moggi has been involved in some shady business. But downright illegal? It very well could be, but I'ld like to see some hard evidence in that case.
Wether there really were illegal dealings or not, the image of Juventus had been tainted, so much that the current board of directors could do nothing about it except resign so that the club can start fresh and with a clean sheet.
Exactly.

corruption is rife in football in general not just in italy, in scotland the old firm got their nick name as there was a series of money spinning cup final replays (back when they played over and over till there was a winner) and the "agreement" in place seen them given this name which has stuck since.
all obver the fooball world there has been cases of ref's taking bribes and clubs coming to agreements thatw ere mutually beneficial. we deserve everything we have got coming to us, for years we have laughed and joked about moggi's shady dealings but now all our chickens have come home to roost and we are in a mess of our own making

Let's be honest, these wouldn't have resigned if it was just for image issues.

but it can't be just Juve

seriously

In a divided country like Italy I'm sure many other clubs have been involved in whatever it may be.

ALL shady clubs should go down

1) Acquire some god damned evidence against clubs, including Juve

2) Relegate them. All of them. Not only us

well if you want a fresh start, everybody's got to go.

I really wonder how Juve will be like next season.

sports.it are clowns, all they find to say is that C. Zanetti might not come to Juve because of the scandals

That would mean players, the medical staff, all the trainers...

No if you want a fresh start the big names of your board have to go. The fact EVERYONE resigned is fishy.

Juve Board Resigns! As allegations of corruption continue to swirl around Juventus, the club has announced that its entire board of directors has submitted its resignation to the shareholders and called a shareholders' meeting for the 29th of June 2006.

President Franzo Grande Stevens, vice-president Roberto Bettega, general manager Antonio Giraudo, general director Luciano Moggi, Carlo Sant' Albano, Jean Claude Blanc, Stefano Bertola, Giancarlo Cerutti, Luigi Chiappero, Andrea Pininfarina, Fabrizio Prete and Claudio Saracco.

This latest develpment comes as exposure of the extent of the scandal that is rocking Italian football to the core continues. La Gazzetta dello Sport today reported that the Napoli magistrates investigating alleged wrong-doings by Juventus director Luciano Moggi and associates during the 2004/2005 season have revealed the names of the teams alleged to be involved in illegal activities.

There are allegations of collusion in the appointment of referees for Juventus games, with Luciano Moggi under investigation for allegedly trying to influence the choice of referees.

Antonio Giraudo, another of the resignations, is also being investigated for false bookkeeping.

The resignations come three days before the final day of the season, with Juventus needing just one point to clinch their second successive league title and 29th overall.

A new board will be nominated on the 29th of June.

And guess what - There are no laws prohibiting nominating THE VERY SAME BOARD if the allegations are not true and if they're found not guilty.

I know this is very unlikely, but I just want to point out that the reason behind them resigning could be ANYTHING.

It could be Personal Reasons (protection for themselves and their families)

It could be so that the shareholders can sort out what they want to do.

This scandal is getting more coverage in Italy than the god damned elections, so no wonder these men wanted to resign.

i totally agree all clubs imlicated should pay the penalty but just because juventus is the top club in italy we should not getaway with it, otherwise how can future boards learn fromm the mistakes of this one, i feel that milan are not above board, how can they be when the chief of the federation is on the payroll but until they are caught out as we have been then we musy ignore our thought, the fact is the board has resigned simply becaudse they have been caught, lets deal with ourselves and sort out our own house before we look at others...and there will be others
