Javier Saviola heeft een mondeling akkoord bereikt met Real Madrid, zo meldt Marca. Het contract van de Argentijn bij zijn huidige club, FC Barcelona, loopt in de zomer van 2008 af. Bij Real Madrid zal hij de concurrentie aan moeten gaan met Raúl, Robinho, Van Nistelrooy, Cassano, Reyes en Higuaín.

Saviola kwam dit seizoen slechts achttien keer in actie voor FC Barcelona, de aanvaller wist hierin vijf keer te scoren. Bij de Catalanen moest hij Messi, Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho en Eto'o voor zich dulden. FC Barcelona liet eerder weten dat Saviola op zoek mocht gaan naar een nieuwe werkgever, de club van trainer Frank Rijkaard vraagt dan ook geen transfersom voor de Argentijn.

Diego Queiruga, agente di Javier Saviola, al Mundo Deportivo ha smentito di essere giunto ad un accordo con il Real Madrid per il trasferimento del giocatore al club blanco, come aveva riferito in mattinata l'altro quotidiano spagnolo 'Marca'. Queiruga ha concluso dicendo che il giocatore è ancora in attesa dell'offerta di rinnovo del Barca.

"Marca" però non demorde e sulla versione on line, a carattere cubitali scrive "Gol al Barça". "Saviola giocherà la prossima stagione nel Real Madrid".
