Environmental compatibility
The construction project used cutting-edge environmetal methods that are mainly aimed to respect the environment and its ecological resources through the application of systems that ensure a low environmental impact of the work of the construction site thanks to the use of advanced environmentally sustainable technologies. This stadium is a construction which reduces energy consumption from non-renewable energy sources through the adoption of advanced technologies that eliminate waste and optimize the resources available. The stadium can produce itself the electricity which it needs using the solar energy captured through photovoltaic panels, it produces warm water which heats rooms, changing rooms, kitchens and football field through a network of district heating, heat hot water for the dressing rooms and kitchens of restaurants taking advantage of solar thermal systems. All this through alternative energy sources and therefore through a fully ecological, environmental sustainable way. This stadium meets the criteria dictated by the Kyoto protocol by generating multiple results:
Reductions of greenhouse gases.
No air pollution.
No risk of fire.
Integration with district heating.
Containment of waste.
Intensive exploitation of solar energy through solar tracker tools.
No production of chemical or acoustic emissions.
Reuse of rainwater.
Reduction of at least 50% of water needed for irrigation of the field.
In addition to the construction of the plant, some of the material of the old Stadio Delle Alpi has been recovered and reused saving 2.3 billion euros.
