Azzurri head off to Hamburg Wednesday 21 June, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Italy have this morning left their Duisburg base for Hamburg ahead of Thursday’s crucial World Cup tie against the Czech Republic.
The Azzurri packed their bags with the intention of netting at least the one point which they need to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
The squad will arrive in Hamburg later today, have a spot of lunch and then rest for a while before their 17.30 training session at the AOL Arena.
Italy would have normally trained a little later in the day, but have decided to bring it closer to the time of tomorrow’s 16.00 kick-off.
Lippi will have all 23 players at his disposal this afternoon, even if Daniele De Rossi is not available for the game as he is suspended.
The Azzurri have already been told to expect the weather conditions to be hot in Hamburg during the match.
Although the side obviously want to remain in Germany for as long as possible, it is understood that plans have already been made for their departure should they crash out of the tournament.
If that happens, the squad will return to Duisburg before catching a flight to Italy from Dusseldorf on Friday morning.
